Water system update:

From the Office of the City Manager

July 22, 2015

Boil Water Rescind Notice

On 7/22/15, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required our public water system Del Rio Utilities Commission, PWS ID 2330001 to issue a Boil Water Notice (BWN) to inform our customers that due to an interruption in service and potential decrease in water pressure from our system water must be boiled prior to consumption.

Our system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels, and/or bacteriological quality and has provided TCEQ with testing results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling as of 7/24/15.

If you have questions, contact Mitchell Lomas or Greg Velazquez at (830) 774-9604.

If a customer wishes to reach TCEQ, they may call 512-239-4691.

The office of the City Manager has released a water system update.

"As of now the ruptured line has been fixed. At the west springs raw water pump station, two pumps have been reactivated. We are currently producing 6700 gallons per minute. This equals to approximately 9.3 million gallons per day.

Our goal is to fill up the clear wells at the plant, which we think will take 4-6 hours. During that process we are going to turn on high service pumps to push water directly into the distribution system and Bedell tanks. The Bedell tanks should take 6-8 hours to fill. The same process will be repeated to fill up the rest of the tanks.

We will continue to keep you posted on this situation. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

City staff hopes for water pressure to be restored by morning. Stay tuned to The Best 96.3FM for more updates and like us on Facebook for real time updates.

From the Office of the City Manager

Drought Contingency and Water Emergency Plan.

The City of Del Rio is asking customers of water services on the north end of town (Cantu and area north) to conserve their water use until further notice. While power has been restored to a majority of the city, the Water Reservoir on Bedell, which feeds The Agarita Water Reservoir remains down. The Agarita supply is estimated to have a 2 hour reserve. Please stay tuned for updated information.
