Rainfall totals over the past 48 hours

Very widespread heavy rain with maxima amounts in southern Mississippi and just south of Marksville.

Widespread flooding was a result of the heavy rain.

Radar is estimating about 30in of rain in Avoyelles parish and surrounding areas the fire department in Moureauville says about 100homes have water in them.

Rain continues to fall in these areas although not as heavy but any rain continues to exacerbate the flooding.

The Baton Rouge metro largely missed out on the rain fall. But Houma, New Orleans, And the North shore experienced major flooding issues after 7 to 10 inches of rain fell. Most of Louisiana is rain free at this time, but Scotter showers and thunderstorm will continue to develop throughout the day but given the break lots of residual flooding is beginning to recede across the area.

Several tornadoes touched down over night and caused damage in Houma and New Orleans the NWS will be out to survey as soon as they are able.

Significant flooding in Houma and New Orleans and 6-8in of rain has fallen in those areas along with a few confirmed tornadoes.

This batch of very heavy rain will continue to move northeastward toward Mississippi this morning.
