For this month’s episode, I met with Sam and Lia. They are in a polycule. Sam is partnered with two others, Rey and Vernon.

Contrary to popular belief, they found the arrangement much less stressful than previous monogamous relationships they have. They told me there is less pressure on one person having to carry the weight of the day. They used the analogy of “you walk around with a backpack full of rocks and not everyone can lift every boulder. Some people can only help with pebbles. And that’s not because they don’t love you any less.”

They admitted it took some time to get adjusted to being poly after growing up in heteronormative spaces, but, for them, it works best.

Sam realized they were non-binary after few years ago and are always on a journey of growth and self discovery. To that end, their experiences with multiple partners, learning to love them all, has opened their minds up for further growth.
