The Colorado Office of Film, Television, and Media is excited to announce the opening of the Chaffee County Regional Film Office. The commission, led by Emmy Award Winning Filmmaker Julie Speer Jackson, will work to develop the local media ecosystem by offering opportunities for professional development through networking events, workshops, and crew and vendor databases specific to the community.
The Chaffee County Film Commission launched in May and will help filmmakers navigate permitting, identify locations, connect with crew and support services. More information about the office can be found at chaffeecountyfilm.com.

A documentary demonstrating the power of modern youth apprenticeship programs to create new career pathways will air on PBS12 this week. The half-hour film, Tomorrow’s Talent Today, was produced with support from the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media (COFTM), the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) and CareerWise Colorado, and highlights the experiences of two CareerWise Colorado apprentices at Pinnacol Assurance.
The film highlights the success of modern apprenticeship programs as state leaders launch new programs to foster the development of innovative workforce training programs. It will air on PBS12 on June 21, 2023 at noon, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. and June 25 at 1 p.m. with streaming available soon after. A preview of Tomorrow’s Talent Today is available upon request. GRANT ALERT: The Summer Grant of the Roy W. Dean Film Grants is now accepting entries. Awarded by top-rated 501(c)3 non-profit From the Heart Productions, the grant seeks unique films that make a contribution to society. Deadline for grant submissions is June 30th, 2023.
The grant is open to documentaries, narrative features, short films and web series budgeted at $500,000 or less. Films can be at any stage of production. Students are welcome to apply.
Winner of the Roy W. Dean Film Grant for Summer will receive $3,500 and thousands more in donated film products and services including $1,295.00 Scholarship to Writers Boot Camp, $500 in grip, lighting or expendables from Filmtools, a 30% Discount by Jerry Deaton for Music Post Production Services at AudioKut , $750 in Grant Writing Services from Karen Everett of New Doc Editing, and more from many heartfelt donors.

Colorado residents have the opportunity to receive a complimentary assessment of their original screenplay, television pilot, or short script through the Screenplay Review Program. This initiative is managed by the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media, which employs recognized Colorado screenwriters and screenwriting professors to review and analyze submitted scripts, offering constructive feedback and recommendations to the authors. Each resident may submit one script per year, completely free, for review.

The Actors Voice Workshop, located in Colorado Springs, just finished another successful acting workshop this past weekend.
Acting workshops provide a safe and supportive environment where you can experiment with new techniques, receive feedback from experienced professionals, and connect with like-minded artists. They can also help you develop skills that are essential for success in the industry, such as auditioning, improvisation, and script analysis. Plus, they're a great way to network and build relationships with other actors, directors, and casting directors.

Starting February 24th and running through March 5th, Denver will again be hosting Side Stories This year, five artists have been selected to create site-specific, five-minute films that align with this year’s theme of “What Moves You,” a nod to movement of all forms and interpretations. Each film will illuminate one of five exterior walls throughout the RiNo Art District over the course of 10 nights.
