Our client, the Fort Collins Rescue Mission, suffered a devastating fire on Saturday that displaced 82 individuals experiencing homelessness. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the shelter is temporarily closed due to significant damage. Let's come together as a community to support them during this critical time.

The Get Grounded Foundation is celebrating 10 years of giving! Since our launch in 2015, we've awarded more than $539,000 in 146 micro-grants to organizations across the Denver and Boulder metro areas, supporting youth mental health, addressing food insecurity and working to prevent childhood abuse and neglect.

As we mark this milestone year, we’re mixing things up in 2025 so stay tuned! Our regular grant cycle will return in 2026.

Fun fact: When the Foundation first began, we turned to the creativity of Amy Moynihan’s kids— then just 7 and 8—to help design our logo. The hand-drawn lettering and building they sketched still serve as our visual identity today. We couldn’t be prouder of our original “design team” as they graduate high school and head off to college this fall.

We rocked the red—and the reason behind it—at City Year Denver’s Rock the Red Jacket event last night at Mile High Station.

We’re proud to sponsor an evening celebrating the young leaders shaping a stronger, more connected Denver through . We’re also honored to have funded their new Youth Mental Health Corps through The Sam Aden Kindness Fund, helping bring mental health resources to students across our city.

Kindness, like Sam, doesn’t stop. And in 2024, you helped carry his light forward in the most beautiful ways. In his honor today, we’d like to share our 2024 Sam Aden Kindness Fund Impact Report.

On the 1st annual Sam’s Day of Stoke, we hit the slopes and raised $10,000 for youth mental health—including support for , a raw and powerful film on mental health in the ski community. On Random Acts of Samness Day, over 100 people across the globe spread joy—one $100 gift, one human connection at a time. From unexpected gifts in Kansas City to holiday magic for Colorado foster kids, your kindness knew no bounds. On December 1 (Sam’s Gotcha Day), we granted $35,000 to 13 organizations transforming youth mental health—because every young person deserves care, safety and someone in their corner.

Sam gave freely and loved deeply. Thanks to you, his legacy of kindness keeps growing.

Looking back, moving forward and celebrating it all. This year, our annual State of the Agency meeting and Groundhog Day celebration gave us the chance to reflect on our work, celebrate our progress and look ahead to what’s next. Sharing this time with teammates from all over the country made it all the more special. And, of course, no celebration is complete without good food and great company!

We're celebrating the success of Get Grounded Foundation grantee Denver City Lax's fall professional development program! Throughout the season, high school students mastered essential career skills, from resume writing to interview techniques.

The program culminated in mock interviews with an impressive lineup of Denver leaders, including legendary lacrosse coach Bill Tierney and former Broncos president Mac Freeman. Our founding partner Kristina Reilly was honored to volunteer alongside these community members and witness these talented students put their new skills into practice.

Gear up on Friday, Jan. 31st at Arapahoe Basin for a day of skiing, laughter and connection. This day is all about honoring Sam, who loved skiing and snowboarding, while also reminding us to prioritize mental health and support each other. Let’s escape to our Rockies on the last day of January, enjoy the fresh powder and celebrate Sam’s memory together at the Legendary Beach at A-Basin.

Can’t make it? You can still support the cause by donating to Sleep In for Sam (this kid loved to sleep as much as he loved the snow😴). Our goal is to raise $15,000 and 💯% of all donations go directly to supporting youth mental health programs through the Get Grounded Foundation and the Sam Aden Kindness Fund.

Our annual holiday party had some of our favorite things: ugly sweaters, delicious soups, a snowman drawing contest and, of course, an opportunity to give back. Our team gathered around our storied center table throughout the day to hand tie fleece blankets for the kids at Children’s Hospital Colorado.

As we celebrate this season, we’re reminded that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Here’s to wrapping the year in generosity and starting the new one with compassion. 🌟
