She was told she might not make it to her wedding day but she kept the date and walked down the aisle smiling.

When Laurin finished her chemo treatments in early 2015, she did something most people would never think to do. She took photos of herself completely bald, wearing pink boxing gloves like she was ready to fight the world, and made them her dating profile pictures on PlentyOfFish.

Michael saw those photos and was captivated. They started talking on March 24, 2015, and had coffee the next day. Three weeks later, Laurin had her mastectomy surgery, and Michael was there waiting with flowers and painkillers when she woke up.

Think about that for a second. Most people would run from that kind of commitment so early on.

They spent the next two years traveling and falling deeper in love, celebrating when doctors declared Laurin cancer-free. At Niagara Falls in 2017, Michael proposed asking if they could keep their adventure going forever.

They picked March 24, 2018 for their wedding - exactly three years from the day they met. Then two months after getting engaged, devastating news: Laurin's cancer was back. Stage 4 this time, spread everywhere.

Doctors kept pushing them to move the wedding date up, basically saying she might not make it to March. But Laurin and Michael looked at each other and said no. March 24th was their day - cancer didn't get to steal that.

Can you imagine the courage that took? Planning a wedding you might not live to see, but doing it anyway because some things are worth fighting for?

She walked down that aisle seven months before cancer finally won. But for one perfect day, she got exactly what she wanted - to marry the man who saw her strength from day one.
