Join cohost Volcano Shelton and studio guest Ms. Memu McCoy, an author of a parenting guide on Body Safety Education for children to discuss this issues.

03/14/2021

Body Safety Education for children is not a new phenomenon because parents have over time in subtle ways speak with their kids about the importance of communicating whenever they feel violated by any adult.

To make the interaction formalized and more comfortable. Ms. Memu McCoy authored a book captioned "You Can Tell Me" for parents establishing a foundation for their children (recommended for ages 4 and up) to learn and understand how to identify and communicate about inappropriate touching or behaviors. It is critical for parents to establish a haven and a clearly identifiable communication channel that allows their children to recognize and freely express their experiences of inappropriate touching or behaviors.

The Corona virus pandemic has forever changed the world. Irrespective of culture, people, and nations--all are impacted in elaborate proportions.

Globally, traveling is one of several sectors of life that is gravely impacted by the virus today.

A traveler has to be tested before departure and arrival, a procedure which one would think should be smooth.

However, that's not the case in most countries. For example, in Liberia, West Africa, the process for a simple COVID-19 testing for travelers arriving at the Roberts International Airport (as many have complained) is excruciatingly painful; needless to say when departing the country. There are many unnecessary bottlenecks, which makes the process unbearable.

Land rights/dispute is our topic tonight Wednesday, 3/3/2021. Liberian Journalist Moses D. Sandy joins cohost Volcano Shelton to discuss the causations, prevalence, and implications of the prevailing situation.

03/03/2021

The issue of land rights in today's Liberia is one of several byproducts of the ended 14 years Liberian civil wars. Since the civil wars, many Liberians and foreign residents of the country, mainly land and property owners continue to be affected by the illegal sales of their land or properties by family members who are often not the administrators or other criminals.

In an attempt to remedy the situation, the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf administration in 2016 established the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) to help individuals and families confronted with land crisis get justice. However, it seems the problem is far from over.

On Sunday of this week, residents of Johnsonville City located in Montserrado County were awakened to a serious land dispute. According to news report, a disgruntled member of a family, who claims ownership to a disputed 25 acres of land in the City, reportedly led a group of individuals including police officers to demolish the only high school in the City. The school was erected on the disputed land. As a result of the action, some citizens of the City took to the streets to protest.

For years now, many public institutions in Liberia do not have steady electricity and running water. As a result, hygiene facilities in these institutions do not provide public access considering their deplorable conditions.

Only government higher-ups have personal facilities in their offices, which after use are flushed with buckets of water. Sadly, the people who work and/or do business with these institutions have to ease themselves on outdoor premises. The government seat around the Capitol Hill is a prime example.
