Only a parent living far from their homeland, raising a child in another part of the world, will truly understand this feeling!

Hearing my daughter play the Indian national anthem on the piano was more than just music - it was a little piece of home coming alive in her fingers.

She may be growing up far from the land we call home, but knowing that a piece of our roots lives in her too is a feeling beyond words.

Pride, nostalgia, and a whole lot of emotion in every note!

Here’s the English Translation:

Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people, Thou Dispenser of India's destiny.
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sind, Gujrat and Maratha,
Of Dravid, Orissa and Bengal.

It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas, Mingles in the music of Jamna and Ganges and is chanted by the waves of the Indian sea.
They pray for Thy blessings and sing thy praise.
The saving of all people waits in thy hand,
Thou Dispenser of India's destiny,
Victory, Victory, Victory to Thee.

While hiking through Conkle’s Hollow State Nature Preserve in Hocking Hills, Ohio, I spotted something that genuinely made me stop in my tracks.

From a distance, it looked like a head hanging from a tree.

Of course, curiosity won… so I got closer.

And the closer I got, the “head” slowly revealed itself...

Swipe to see what it actually was.

Nature has a funny way of playing tricks on your eyes!

Would you have kept walking… or gone closer to investigate?

According to Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 5, Verse 10:

“ब्रह्मण्याधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यः।
लिप्यते न स पापेन पद्मपत्रमिवाम्भसा॥”

“One who performs actions without attachment, surrendering them to the Divine, remains untouched - just as a lotus leaf remains untouched by water.”

The lotus is far more than just a flower - it is a timeless symbol of purity, resilience, spiritual awakening, divine beauty, and detachment.

Born in muddy waters, the lotus rises above the surface and blooms in pristine beauty. It does not deny the mud from which it grew; it simply refuses to be defined by it.

Perhaps that is the lesson for us too.

We must live in this world - with its struggles, disappointments, responsibilities, attachments, and distractions - while striving to keep our hearts free from negativity, greed, anger, and bitterness.

Live in the world, but don’t let the world stain your soul.
Perform your duties. Face your challenges. Rise above what weighs you down. And keep blooming.

Just like the lotus 🪷

Finding this beautiful Yellow Lotus at Sterling State Park, Michigan, felt like discovering not just a flower, but a little reminder of ancient wisdom floating quietly on the water!

Spotted in the Wild: The Hiker

A fascinating creature that climbs rocks, follows trails, takes too many pictures, and survives mostly on snacks and curiosity.

The Ledges Trail was the perfect habitat for this rare species.
