When Terry McCarthy was 6 years old, a bowl full of lit kerosene was dumped on him and he suffered 3rd-degree burns to 70 percent of his body. He endured nearly 60 operations, and kids at school made fun of him, often calling him Freddy Krueger because of the deep scars on his face and arms. It crippled his confidence for years. So, understandably, he grew up fearing fire. And that's one of the biggest reasons why Terry, now 26, went through 12 harsh weeks of training to become a firefighter. The very first fire he faced during the training was tough, and it brought back so many terrifying memories of his childhood, but he quickly came to realize that the fire did not control him, and he would no longer let it consume his life. He had faced his biggest fear head on... and he won.

Today's Feel Good Story from Kelsey is great idea for all teachers! =) 👩🏫
I decided to go into the Goodwill Store and look around while my wife was picking up a few items at the local Pharmacy next door.
As I waked around I happen to notice a few military medals laying in a box next to a tray of old tarnished silverware. I began fumbling through the medals and was surprised to find a purple heart.
I had never actually seen a purple heart before. I picked up the medal and I held it in my hand. I stood there wondering what brave soldier had received this honor and if he, or she, were still alive today. I could hardly believe that anyone would discard such a precious thing. I put the medal back into to tray and continued looking around the store. No matter how hard I tried I just could not get that darn metal out of my mind.
I walked up to the front of the store and I asked the woman how much the medals cost.
“Twenty-five cents.” She replied.
“Why would anyone throw away something like that?” I asked her.
“Maybe it belonged to someone who died and when their estate was sold at auction the medal no
longer had a value,” she told me.
I immediately walked back to the back of the store and I retrieved the purple heart from the small cardboard box. I then walked, without speaking, to the front of the store where I purchased the medal. I then went to my truck where I waited for my wife.
After she came out of the pharmacy she asked me if I had found anything of value.
“As a matter of fact I did. I found something that was priceless and I purchased it for only a quarter.” I told her. When we arrived home I cleaned up the medal and its ribbon, as best I could, and then I wrapped it in a small American Flag and I buried it with honor.
The most important survey ever conducted.

I’m out having dinner and this woman outside was being blinded by the sunset so her date propped a menu behind his head, on the collar of his shirt, to block the sun from her eyes and I AM SOBBING 😭

My guy friend and I have been single forever. We're both 30, I've been in 1 serious relationship...ever. It lasted for 6 months. And honestly, he's only been on a few dates. I don't know if we're too picky or what. We both want to have kids. I'm not getting any younger..and neither is he. We chatted last weekend and I asked him if he'd like to have a baby with me. We're not in a relationship, and neither one of us have any desire to be. Not with each other anyway. He said yes! I realize this might seem odd, but we're great friends! I know he'll always be around to co-parent, which he said if we do this he'd like to be involved. Is there any reason we shouldn't do this?? Talk me out of it...or don't!
It’s happening again 🧻
This is AMAZING! A 92-year-old with dementia remembers Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight’ Sonata on piano. Come get you some good vibes. 🎹 😎

Two hillbillies walk into a restaurant. While having a bite to eat, they talk about their moonshine operation.
Suddenly, a woman at a nearby table, who is eating a sandwich, begins to cough. After a minute or so, it becomes apparent that she is in real distress. One of the hillbillies looks at her and says, "Kin ya swallar?"
The woman shakes her head no.
Then he asks, "Kin ya breathe?"
The woman, beginning to turn blue, shakes her head no.
The hillbilly walks over to the woman, lifts up her dress, yanks down her drawers and quickly gives her right butt cheek a lick with his tongue.
The woman is so shocked that her entire body reacts and the obstruction flies out of her mouth.
As she begins to breathe again, the hillbilly walks slowly back to his table.
His partner says, "Ya know, I'd heerd of that there 'Hind Lick Maneuver' but I ain't niver seen nobody do it!"
But don't stop carrying on... be kind. Always.

When she was asked to reveal her beauty secrets, actress Audrey Hepburn wrote this poem, which was read at her funeral:
To have attractive lips, pronounce words of kindness.
To have beautiful eyes, look at what beautiful people have in them.
To stay thin, share your meals with those who are hungry.
To have beautiful hair, let a child pass his hand every day.
To have a beautiful maintenance, walk knowing that you are never alone, because those who love you and loved you accompany you.
People, more than objects, need to be repaired, tended, revived, claimed and saved: never reject anyone.
Think about it: if one day you need a hand helping, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you get older, you will realize that you have two hands, one to help yourself, the other to help those who need it.
The Beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, her face or her way of fixing her hair. The Beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, for it is the open door on her heart, the source of her love.
The Beauty of a woman is not in her makeup, but in the true beauty of her soul. It is the tenderness that she gives, love, passion it expresses.
The Beauty of a woman develops with the years.
See this guy right here? His name is Kahlief. At some point in time on Friday night, while working at the front desk at the Hampton Inn, Kahlief looked up to find a random kid standing in front of him asking if he’d like to see a card trick. Let me tell you all the stuff Kahlief didn’t know.
He didn’t know that this little boy has autism. That learning and doing card tricks is a passion of his because it helps to quiet and focus his brain as well as keep his hands busy. He didn’t know that this little boy lost his dad a few years ago, has been on the waiting list for a ‘big brother’ for well over two years now, and lives with only his mom and sister, so very much misses interacting with male figures.
Kahlief didn’t know any of that, and was still kind enough to say ‘yes’. He very easily could have told Colin he was busy, or to come back later, or any number of things, but he didn’t. He allowed Colin to hang out at the desk with him for what felt like forever, watching Colin do card tricks and then showing Colin some tricks that he knew as well. He paused when he needed to, when the phone rang or a customer came in, (in the pic he is on the phone, the person he was speaking to had him on hold), but he never once made Colin feel like he was a nuisance or a burden. In fact, when we saw that he had returned for another shift the following day, he made it a point to let Colin know he was geared up and ready to go with more card tricks. So this kind man took time out of his day again on Saturday, still not realizing what a huge impact he was having on Colin, because he was still completely unaware of all the things about Colin he did not know.
I love and live for feel good moments like this. It is so easy to be kind, yet seems to be such a rare occurrence these days.

This little fella was having a tough morning and fell out on the floor.
I seen his mother step back and look. She stated this is how he is expressing himself lately.
I decided to get on his level and talk to him.
He started to cry so I wiped his tears and told him it will be ok.
As an adult sometimes all we want is one person to stop, get on our level and maybe wipe our tears.
These children are entitled to bad days just as us, so give them that moment to bring it together. Get on someone's level today and make them smile!!
Spread PEACE and LOVE you might be that person that gives them hope!

Seven years ago Luz Rueda, then a 21-year-old single mother, was holding her screaming infant son as she wrestled over whether to use almost all of the money she had left before payday to buy diapers for her baby.
"I stood there so long until I finally decided on the box that my son had lost his patience and was screaming and crying for us to leave," Rueda said. "I was so preoccupied with my son's tears, I didn't even notice the woman in front of me had paid for my box of diapers."
Rueda never got a chance to say 'thank you' to the woman so she's now paying it forward, seven years and two more children after that encounter.
"Even though this was many years ago, I still think about her all the time," she said.
She had a box and three bags of diapers at her home, so she posted an emotional message on the Waco Moms in the Know page, sharing the story of the stranger who helped her and offering to do the same for other moms in similar situations.
"I would like to give to four young single mothers, but please feel free to message me even if you don't meet these qualifications," she wrote at the end of the post.
Struggling moms quickly began to message Rueda and one by one came to pick up the diapers.
Rueda hopes the mothers she helped will return the kindness someday to someone else in need.
"I had four people that I gave diapers to and I hope that they pay it forward like I did and I hope it brought as much joy to them as the woman brought me and I really hope she sees this and sees how she rippled into other people's lives as well.
Prayers for brother Al
Al is sharing his journey to urge others at risk, particularly Black men, to make sure they see a doctor to get the proper checkups.
Rylee Long shared this touching story with me...
"So, we go to Walmart today and Lakken happens to see an elderly man that was having a hard time shopping and finding things, due to him not being able to lift his head up and see straight. He can only see the ground and barely the sides of him, so Lakken looks at me and goes, 'Aunt Ry, can I please help him?' I of course said 'YES'.
He went up to the man and asked him if he would like some help! His eyes lit up and he said, 'Well yes that would be amazing young man! Thank you so much.'
Lakken was running all over the place for this man. The man was so happy - he told us that he hasn't had anyone offer help in years.
Lakken went and helped him check out and bag his stuff and had the store call the bus for his ride home. The man tried to tip Lakken and Lakken said, 'Oh thank you, but I don't need this. I enjoyed helping you.'
I'm beyond proud of Lakken, you don't see or get many people...let alone children, who do these things for people."
It’s happening. I have seen a lot of hate spewed in recent days about a man who is a constant winner and overachiever, and that's what the people who support him like about him. Yes, he's been caught in some lies and maybe twisted the truth a little but he's still out there proving his haters wrong time after time. Some people are just jealous of someone who is successful and has money. Throw in a hot foreign underwear model at his side and they hate him even more. You may not have wanted him in his role, but he's there now and there's nothing you can do about it. I know it’s possibly just going to get worse over the next several days, but like him or not, Tom Brady is turning things around in Tampa.

JOE IS BACK! 😱🙌
"I'll never forget the day my mom called me in a panic: 'Janna, you've got to convince your daddy to get rid of that horse, it's gonna kill him!'"
Janna Grapperhaus shared the touching story of the bond that was built between her father and an abused horse.
Major was a young and vicious stallion when her father bought him. He "couldn't be broke".
"The men who owned him previously had used a technique to break horses that involved beatings and tying his head tightly between two posts where they left him standing without food or water for 4 weeks," Janna said.
But Major stood strong.
When her father brought him home, Major barreled through five strands of fence within minutes of arriving. He'd bite and strike anyone that got too close.
"My dad never broke him... he earned his heart," she explained. "Every single day, for hours and hours dad worked to earn that abused horse's trust. Love won and after two full years, Major allowed my dad to ride him. When dad would go out, Major would kiss him on the head over and over. They had a bond that only horse people could ever understand."
So when her father passed, it seemed fitting to let Major say goodbye.
"This is Major's last kiss."

Two little girls who are both battling cancer met at the hospital before their surgeries and formed an instant bond.
Jordanna Howard shared the touching story about her daughter Mackenzie and her new friend Akira.
"At 3.5 months Mackenzie was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer called retinoblastoma which is cancer in the eyes.
She's since been through 7 rounds of chemo and is currently almost 1 year cancer free, all of her treatment has been at UCSF and we could not be luckier for the care we have received.
Today was a special day as we had surgery for Mackenzie and as we were waiting we meeting this beautiful girl Akira."
"Akira is 2 years old and also battling retinoblastoma like Mackenzie.
The girls met in pre -op and an instant bond and friendship developed.
This was the most heart warming to watch and the girls were holding hands, playing together and hugging each other as if they were life long best friends."
As Akiras grandmother 'mama' said today - this is pure innocence.
In a surprising move (to me), LOTS of you want to keep daylight savings time.
We're getting a lot of texts similar to this:
"I like it as during the summer it is lighter out later and we can enjoy more of our day. Our summers are short enough here in MI, no need to shorten it more with no daylight savings."
