⚖️ Judge Suppresses Key Evidence in Luigi Mangione Murder Case
A New York judge has partially ruled in favor of Luigi Mangione, the man accused of assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Manhattan.
The court decided that some evidence found during the initial search of Mangione’s backpack — including a phone, computer chip, and loaded magazine — cannot be used at trial because the search was deemed unlawful. However, other items later recovered at a police station, including a gun and silencer, will still be allowed as evidence.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty to all charges in the high-profile case, which sparked nationwide debate over anger toward the health insurance industry. His murder trial is scheduled to begin on September 8.
