2012 ALDS GAME 5
Many consider his Game 5, 2012 ALDS shutout of the Oakland A's as his best, where he pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to clinch the series. Other strong contenders include his Game 5, 2013 ALDS win (8 innings, 2 hits, 10 strikeouts) and his Game 3, 2013 ALCS start (8 innings, 1 run, 10 strikeouts).

The latest on Skubal
Skubal did an interview with Foul Territory via X and spoke on all of the speculation about him being dealt in what would be a blockbuster trade:
"I don't have any control...It is not like I want to be traded, so it's kind of like why am I in these conversations?"
He then goes on to speak about the lack of truth behind the rumors regarding his contract. "I don't really know where they come up with these numbers," said Skubal.

Based on his own words it is clear that Skubal wants to stay with the organization that started his professional career back in 2018 when they drafted him back in the ninth round (255 overall).

The Tigers and infielder/outfielder Matt Vierling ($3.255 million), catcher Jake Rogers ($3.05 million) and right-handed pitcher Beau Brieske ($1.1575 million) have agreed to terms on one-year contracts for the 2026 season, thus avoiding salary arbitration. Andy Ibáñez has been non-tendered. The remaining 32 arbitration-eligible and pre-arbitration eligible players on the club's 40-man roster were tendered contracts for the 2026 season.

News has yet to come down about the Tigers' heavier hitters — Greene, Torkelson, Carpenter, Will Vest, Zach McKinstry, Casey Mize and, of course, Tarik Skubal. Mize has a history of disagreeing with the Tigers on arbitration figures; he and the team couldn't come to an agreement in the 2023-2024 offseason and quibbled over just $25,000. The Tigers should be hoping to avoid any such messiness this season.

Detroit's 40-man roster now stands at 39 players.

Sources on X are saying the Tigers may be shopping Parker Meadows around in exchange for a pitcher. This hints at Javy Bàez possibly being moved to CF to accommodate top prospect Kevin McGonigle.
