"Content is especially important to us. It has to be super reliable. ACCESS allows us to bring all of these disparate content sources into the glass-enclosed nerve center, get them on the air reliably. Our revenue is dependent on that."

When WTOP realized they needed to transition from ISDN to AoIP, they knew Comrex ACCESS IP codecs would be the solution. And with ACCESS MultiRack, the newest AES67 multicodec from Comrex, they'll be able to keep ACCESS for that transition too.

Who We Are

Comrex designs and build reliable equipment to connect broadcasters with their audiences.

We strive to build reliable, user-friendly tools that engineers can trust to work, even during complicated broadcasts. Our goal is to make it easy for broadcasters to create the programming they care about.

Since our incorporation in 1961, Comrex has been in the vanguard of technical development, making use of new and innovative technologies for radio and television well before they hit the mainstream. Our ACCESS and BRIC-Link IP audio codecs make use of sophisticated audio transmission technology to ensure reliable broadcasts over challenging IP networks. We then used our years of experience in IP to develop our CrossLock tools to handle the unique demands of transmitting video, with the development of our LiveShot IP video technology. Throughout it all, we have continued to refine our telephone hybrid technology with products like VH2 and break new ground with products like Opal.

Hi Comrex -- Is there a user's group you can point me to for Access NX? Thanks. Having some tech issues.
Accesses, Opals and Brics. Oh my!!
I just got out of broadcasting after 24-1/2 years doing a NY\C based radio show on fishing. I have three Comrex Hotline boxes looking to sell. I’m selling this Comrex Hotline (Unit 1 of 3) because after 24 years on the air doing a NY radio program using units like this, I now reside in SC and still used it for the last 5 years from SC.This unit works perfectly fine and comes with cover and power supply. This unit is not 24 years old. I have gone through a few of them upgrading from time to time to newer units. I remember buying them right here on E Bay in the late 90's and in the 2000's for a grand to $1,400 each. Selling for like $250 each as I have three (3) of them. These units are a good 15 years old and are true workhorses and have never broken down or given me any trouble. I have sent them to Comrex in MA for updating from time to time ove rthe last 15 years. I am selling three of them so I can make a package deal on them…see my other auctions. Sold as is. Or contact me directly rich at thefishingline dot com I have done remote broadcasts from my home office since 1997 and have used them as far away as the British Virgin Islands and everywhere in between. I have taken care of them and have been in a smoke free home their entire lives. Buyer pays shipping & insurance if you want it. The Comrex HotLine is aDigital Audio Coding device designed for use on analog, dial-up telephonelines. The HotLine integrates a high speed modem and a low bit rate audiocoding algorithm, providing wideband audio in full duplex across the digitalchannel provided by the modems. Generically, this equipment may be referred toas a POTS codec: A digital encoder/decoder that works on Plain O ld Telephone TService. S Depending on the connect rate, the HotLine will provide up to 10 kHzaudio bandwidth. This wide bandwidth is provided in each direction simultaneously, with no “crosstalk” between the incoming and outgoing channels. The modems inthe HotLine will negotiate the highest possible connect rate achievable for aparticular telephone connection. The HotLine provides high quality audio atconnect rates as low as 12 kB/s, allowing it to operate on fairly poortelephone connections. The HotLine’s main audio input is through a standard3-pin XLR connector and is switchable between microphone and line levels, Asecond tape input is provided on an 1/8" 2-conductor mini jack for a fixed-10 dBu level. Two outputs are available: a professional, balanced line levelon a 3-pin XLR connector and a direct 1/4" 3-conductor headphone jack. Tofurther eliminate the need for external mixers at a remote site, the audiooutput is a user adjustable mix of return audio and local program. In additionto its audio functions, the HotLine provides several features which make itversatile and easy to use. The system provides two indications and contactclosures, one indicating correct connection, and the other which can betriggered by the user during program transmission. These can be used to engageautomation systems or other remote control functions. The HotLine offers theability to store four Quick Dial numbers of up to 35 digits in length(including a “,” for inserting a pause in the dialing string.) These numbersare stored in nonvolatile memory and can be dialed via a single keystroke.Pressing Q-DIAL 0 will automatically redial the last number dialed. Also, theHotLine allows the user to dial from its internal memory, its keypad, or froman externally connected telephone. It can be configured to answer an incomingcall automatically, or to require a manual answer. All setup information issaved when the power is turned off. The modem can be factory configured tocomply with many international telephone systems. HotLine Product Manual 5 1.) NOTES: 1.) The HotLine willnot work on cellular telephones. 2.) It will not allow connections to lineswithout a HotLine. In other words, you need two HotLines – one at each end ofthe circuit. 3.) It will not provide connections to ISDN codecs. 4.) TheHotLine is not compatible with other brands
