RAAPA Presents Annual Christmas Show - Tickets on Sale Now!
The theme of this year’s show is “A Country Christmas” with songs that reflect the spirit of living and celebrating Christmas in the country (i.e., small-town America).
This year’s show will be divided into three distinct acts:
Act One will feature the RAAPA chorus singing popular holiday songs such as “Jingle Bell Rock”,” A Very Merry Christmas”, and “Tender Tennessee Christmas” (made famous by Amy Grant). This act will include a special children’s performance of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Act Two begins with a short play called “The Living Nativity” by Karen Jones, directed by Connie Venskus and featuring eight veteran RAAPA actors. This humorous play is filled with lots of laughter combined with a meaningful message. The play will be followed by RAAPA’s traditional costumed Live Nativity sequence with songs filled with the true meaning of Christmas such as, “Do You Hear What I Hear?”, “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” and “Mary Had a Baby.”
Act Three closes the show with two big numbers: “Let It Be Christmas” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” (featuring the famous “Man in Red”). Children attending the show will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa Claus when the show concludes.
This year our musical director, Fawn Palmer, is bringing back the audience “sing-along” that was so popular in year’s past. Cindy Christie returns as our musical accompanist. Baked goods and water will be offered free of charge during intermission and there will be a 50/50 raffle.
Show dates are Saturday (Dec 6th) at 7:00 pm & Sunday (Dec 7th) at 2:00 pm at The Rumford Town Hall. All tickets are $10.00 and available for advance purchase at All That Jazz hair salon (80 Congress Street in Rumford), from RAAPA Chorus members, or by calling Anita Murphy at 369-0205.
