🐴 A little something about our alpha mare, Athena!

Long before she became the confident queen of the herd at Star Stables, Athena was known by another name: High Rocktane.

Born on May 9, 2008, at the renowned Perretti Farms in Cream Ridge, New Jersey, Athena came from impressive Standardbred bloodlines. Her sire was the legendary Rocknroll Hanover, a Hall of Fame racehorse and one of the most influential sires in harness racing history.

As a young mare, Athena was part of the Standardbred world, likely receiving professional training before eventually becoming a broodmare and raising foals of her own. Her journey would take her from New Jersey to Indiana, where she spent part of her life in a breeding program before eventually finding her way to a completely different career.

Today, Athena calls Star Stables home.

While her racing and breeding days are behind her, she has become so much more than the name on a registration paper. Around here, she's the boss mare, the first to greet visitors, the self-appointed supervisor of chores, and a favorite among everyone who meets her. She reminds us every day that every animal has a story, and sometimes their greatest chapter comes long after the one they were originally bred for.

From prestigious horse farm to beloved riding horse, Athena's journey has been an incredible one—and we're honored to be part of her story.

🌿🐴 A Big Day at Star Stables! 🐴🌿

The horses have officially been turned out into the large pasture for the season, and they are loving every minute of it! With acres of space to roam, fresh grass to graze, and plenty of room to run and play, they are settling right into summer life.

One of the best features of our pasture is the beautiful brook that runs through the property, providing a natural source of fresh, flowing water for the horses to enjoy.

Pasture turnout allows horses to move naturally, socialize with their herd mates, and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of being out in a larger environment. Seeing them relaxed, happy, and enjoying their natural surroundings is what Star Stables is all about.

We are so happy for Buck, Bella, Smokey, Jake, Dallas and Athena ☀️🌾🐎

Spring wellness day at Star Stables is complete! 🌿💉🐴🐐

Today our horses and goaties got their yearly vaccinations and health checkups to help keep everyone healthy, happy, and ready for a fun summer season ahead!

Annual vaccinations are such an important part of farm care. For horses, vaccines help protect against serious illnesses like rabies, tetanus, West Nile Virus, and Eastern/Western Equine Encephalitis.

Preventative care helps:
• Keep animals healthy and comfortable
• Reduce risk of illness spreading through the herd
• Support strong immune systems
• Prepare animals for busy summer months, outings, visitors, and adventures

We are so proud of everyone today — all the horses and goaties did absolutely fantastic! 💚 Now they’re officially summer-ready and looking forward to sunshine, green grass, and warm days ahead at Star Stables! ☀️🌾

The boys at Star Stables had an important job this weekend! 🌱🐐

As we get closer to planting season, our male goats were hard at work helping us clean up the garden area before we till. They happily munched down the excess grass while also naturally fertilizing the soil along the way. 🚜🌾

Farm life is all about finding ways to work with nature — and these boys were more than happy to clock in for garden duty! 💚

Who knew lawn care could be this cute? 🐐✨

Big things are happening at ✨ Star Stables ✨

This week, we made a HUGE purchase for the farm — our very own livestock trailer! 🚜🐐🐴🐄

This is more than just a trailer to us… it’s a tool that will help take Star Stables to a whole new level and open so many new doors for our animals and our future plans. We want to thank Imperial Trailer Sales & Service for helping us with the perfect trailer for our needs!

Owning a livestock trailer gives farmers and homesteads so many important benefits:
• Safe and reliable transportation for animals
• Easier trips to vet appointments and emergencies
• Ability to attend livestock sales, horse shows, fairs, and educational events
• Less stress trying to coordinate borrowed transportation

We are so excited for this next chapter and thankful for everyone who continues to support our little farm dream. 💛🐾

We currently have day-old chicks available for adoption at Star Stables! These little ones are considered mixed breed chicks, making each one unique with fun possibilities in color, feather patterns, and personality as they grow. 🐣

They are active, adorable, and ready to start their next adventure with loving families or homesteads. Whether you’re starting your flock or adding a few new babies, now is a great time! 🌾
