Looking back on the Midwinter Festival at Teton High School, I was struck by the support of the local artists.

The students studied and practiced their hearts out. And it was so cool to see the community join them on stage for the night.

Many events like this one have something to say. And when we created the recap, our goal was to have the night play again, and to thank the ones that make the music program at the school possible. Parents and Sponsors.

So often the event comes and goes and there’s no resounding message for the event to repeat after the date (in this case March 12th) and the next year, there’s no way to promote other than posters and word of mouth. We created a video with a message for after the event, and to promote the next year we created a evergreen video that THS could re-brand and transform into a Promo to fit whatever date and time or theme they wanted.

Such a great time out at who provided the chip-spreader (and technical support) for this year’s chip-seal in the valley. The shop is this old train repair warehouse repurposed to their needs and it has quite the vibe.

One of my favorite parts of doing this work again is sitting across from someone and giving my full attention to someone. I walked away from this interview feeling thankful, as I often do, for the chance to meet someone new and honestly talk for a while.

I spent some time picking the spot. There were a lot of options, but I kept coming back to one with a textured, interesting background. Honestly could have added some depth of field to this. Lighting-wise, I let the daylight coming through a top-left window motivate the lighting setup. I used my largest softbox to soften and bring the lighting as close to natural as I could bring it then brought up the shadows with a bounce. A warm lamp off to the right gave just enough of an edge to lift the frame further with a little glow.

Although these small choices add up and they can be a lot to commit to, once I hit record, I hope they help people to feel and be seen. It was really meaningful to speak to these wonderful women in my community.

It was amazing to see such talent last night from all the participants at the rodeo. It’s no wonder the place is packed out every week.

Faithfully going for 15 years, Teton Valley Rodeo has been a staple of entertainment and community in Driggs.

It all acutally started with sunsets.

I have like 50 dutch-angle sunset shots from when I first got a Nikon D80. Not 50 sunsets. 50 shots. Of the same sunest. Still have them on a drive somewhere the mythical thing...

Back when I could pace around the lake at the college and just think till dark. Still probably could, but it's colder here.

What we like:
what's not to like about a sunset! I think the key in exposure is really getting the bright parts down enough to bring the color out. When the colors get closer to bright or dark respectively, the saturation of the colors decrease. Getting those bright clouds into the proper exposure is super rewarding to keep that color.

"CAAAAR!!!"

It was flat; the street I grew up on. It made for a great skateboard, bike and unicycle surface. Except for the Obstacles.

All four voices would call out to the others and we'd stand on the side of the road watching them drive by. We all know those kids....we were those kids.
