More than 100 Dublin residents are pushing back on a proposed senior living development—and the issue isn’t really senior housing.

A developer is proposing 175 senior apartments and 19 single-story villas on roughly 18 acres near Bright Road and Emerald Parkway, next to Hopewell Elementary.

The development would offer independent living, assisted living and memory care.

But nearby residents say the problem is how much development is being proposed for this particular piece of Dublin.

The City’s long-range plan describes much of the property as appropriate for smaller-scale development with a residential feel. The proposed main building, however, would be three stories and more than 200,000 square feet.

Residents have now started a petition asking Dublin to reconsider the project’s density, traffic plan and how well it fits with the surrounding Bright Road neighborhood.

They’re particularly concerned about a proposed entrance on Bright Road across from Macbeth Drive and the additional traffic it could bring near Hopewell Elementary.

There’s another interesting wrinkle.

The developer has pointed to Dublin’s housing study as showing a need for 1,040 new senior rental units by 2030.

But NBC4 took a closer look and found that 1,040 actually represents the projected need for all additional housing units during that period. The estimated need for new senior rentals is 110.

For now, nothing has been approved. The project remains in the concept stage, and the City says the developer hasn’t submitted an application to move it forward.

But with more than 100 people already signing a petition against the current plan, there’s clearly going to be plenty of attention on what happens next.

More than 90 acres of Metro Center are currently covered by parking lots and asphalt. Dublin has some very different ideas for that land.

For a while, we’ve been telling you about the City’s long-term plan to transform Metro Center from the office park we know today into something much more mixed-use.

Now we’re getting a better idea of what happens next.

Dublin is working on the zoning and design rules that would actually allow that transformation to happen. Those are scheduled to go before the Planning & Zoning Commission for a work session on September 17, with a recommendation expected later this fall and City Council consideration this winter.

And the numbers help explain why the City sees so much potential here.

Metro Center covers roughly 210 acres. More than 90 acres are currently parking and asphalt, including about 7,700 parking spaces.

The long-term idea is to gradually replace some of that with housing, restaurants, shops, green space, and better walking and bike connections—while keeping the offices and businesses already there.

In other words, Dublin isn’t looking to wipe Metro Center off the map and start over. It’s trying to figure out how all that underused space around the existing buildings could become something more.

None of this means bulldozers are showing up next week. There’s still a long way to go.

But after years of talking about what Metro Center could eventually become, Dublin is now getting into the rules that could actually make it possible.

If the FBI called and said you were part of a federal investigation, would you know it was a scam?

One Dublin man didn’t—and it cost him $20,000.

According to 10TV, it started with a call claiming his credit card had been used to purchase thousands of dollars worth of weapons.

Then things got much more elaborate.

He was told to download a secure app and began communicating with people posing as FBI agents. They sent him official-looking documents, required him to check in several times a day and warned that he could face federal prison if he discussed the supposed investigation with anyone.

Eventually, they told him to wire $20,000.

The scammers even coached him on what to tell his bank about why he needed the money.

Looking back, the Dublin man told 10TV the warning signs seem obvious. But in the moment, he was scared enough that he went along with it.

That’s why he’s sharing his story now.

And the real FBI says there’s one simple thing worth remembering: the FBI will not call you demanding money or threaten to arrest you if you don’t pay.

If someone claiming to be an FBI agent calls, you can hang up and independently verify who you’re actually dealing with.

It’s an expensive lesson for one Dublin resident—but hopefully one that keeps somebody else from making the same $20,000 mistake.

Is the best public high school in Ohio right here in Dublin? 🎓

According to the latest ranking, the answer is yes.

Dublin Jerome ranked #1 among 831 public high schools across Ohio in Niche’s latest rankings.

Niche evaluates schools using a mix of academics, teacher quality, college preparation, student and parent reviews, and other factors.

And Jerome didn’t just take the top overall spot.

It also ranked #3 in Ohio for college prep and #8 for public high school teachers.

Dublin’s other two high schools had a pretty strong showing too.

Dublin Coffman ranked #19 among Ohio public high schools and an impressive #5 for teachers.

Dublin Scioto came in at #64 overall, while ranking #21 for college prep and #23 for diversity.

One thing worth clearing up: you may see another Niche ranking that has Jerome at #12 in Ohio. That list includes both public and private schools.

When Niche looks specifically at public high schools, Jerome is #1.

Rankings certainly aren’t the only way to judge a school, but having all three Dublin high schools perform well—and one sitting at the very top of the state—is a pretty nice showing for Dublin.

He couldn’t crack the starting lineup at Dublin Scioto. Now he’s running one of the biggest programs in college football. 🏈

With college football getting underway, here’s a Dublin success story worth knowing.

Auburn head coach Alex Golesh once played football at Dublin Scioto.

Golesh was born in Moscow and moved to the U.S. with his family when he was seven. After first living in Brooklyn, his family eventually landed in Dublin, where he got his chance to play organized football.

But Golesh wasn’t some Scioto superstar destined for Saturdays in the SEC.

He was an undersized lineman who never became a regular starter. What he did have was an understanding of the game. He helped teammates get lined up correctly and apparently had the coaching part in him long before anyone was paying him for it.

One person who noticed was Scioto assistant coach Jeff Jones.

The two lived in the same neighborhood, Jones gave Golesh rides to practice, and over time he became a mentor who helped inspire Golesh to pursue coaching himself.

Golesh went to Ohio State, started as a student assistant and spent the next couple of decades climbing through college football. He helped build one of the country’s best offenses at Tennessee, became head coach at South Florida and, late last year, landed the biggest job of his career: head coach at Auburn.

But here’s our favorite part.

Golesh eventually hired the coach who helped start it all.

Jeff Jones is now at Auburn too, working in player development alongside his former Scioto player.

So if you catch an Auburn game this fall, there’s a pretty great Dublin story standing on that sideline: a former Scioto kid running an SEC program, with his old Scioto coach there alongside him.

A Jerome soccer player just got a call most young players can only dream about. 🇺🇸⚽

Avery Decker has been selected as one of just 24 players from across the country for a U.S. Under-15 Girls’ National Team training camp.

The camp runs September 1–8 at U.S. Soccer’s new National Training Center outside Atlanta, where Decker will train alongside some of the best players her age in the country.

And this isn’t the first time she’s caught the attention of U.S. Soccer.

Earlier this year, Decker was selected for a U-14 regional Talent ID camp. This summer, she was also named first-team All-Conference in the ECNL’s Ohio Valley Conference.

Now she’s taken another step, earning one of just eight defender spots at the U-15 camp. The team is also scheduled to scrimmage the U.S. Under-16 Girls’ National Team during the week.

The camp is part of U.S. Soccer’s pathway for identifying players who could eventually move through the older youth national teams and compete internationally.

So while the fall soccer season gets underway back home, one of Jerome’s own is getting the chance to show what she can do on a national stage.

Pretty cool.

There’s a company headquartered in Dublin doing more than $100 million a year in revenue.

There’s also a pretty good chance you’ve never heard of it.

InnoSource works mostly behind the scenes, recruiting and employing workers for other companies and increasingly taking responsibility for entire business functions.

But the story of how it got here is pretty great.

CEO Chad Delligatti was an entrepreneur long before he had the title. Growing up, he built a lawn-mowing business with 30 to 40 customers. Then at Ohio University, he once bought an entire Hallmark shipment of Beanie Babies on credit, drove them to an event in Parkersburg—and sold the whole shipment in less than an hour.

In 2000, one of his former lawn-mowing customers recruited him to a tiny company he’d started called InnoSource.

At the time, it had just a handful of employees.

Twenty-six years later, Delligatti owns the company alongside a new partner, the Ohio Fund, and they’re aiming considerably higher: more than $300 million in revenue within five years.

A big part of that bet is AI.

InnoSource is developing AI tools for customer service, manufacturing, logistics, and recruiting, while also putting engineers and industry experts inside client companies to help them figure out how to actually use the technology.

And there’s a very Dublin detail buried in all of this: their own tool is called Minnie AI, named after Delligatti’s German shepherd.

As InnoSource grows nationally, its Dublin headquarters is growing with it. The company plans to move into a new headquarters on Wall Street, and Delligatti told us staying in Dublin was an easy decision.

For him, it’s personal too. His family has called the Dublin area home for more than two decades, his kids attend Jerome, and his wife Adrienne spent 20 years at Ashland Chemical before starting a Dublin business you may know a little better: Dells Homemade Ice Cream & Coffee.

So there’s a $100-million company quietly growing right here in Dublin, trying to become a $300-million one.

And we’ll have a front-row seat as they try to pull it off.

We’ve been hearing about plans to transform Metro Center for a while. Next week, you can actually see what that could look like.

Dublin is holding an open house with a 3D model of the future Metro Center, giving residents a much more tangible look at one of the biggest long-term redevelopment projects in the city.

The plan is to gradually transform the largely office-focused area around Metro Place into something more mixed-use and walkable—adding housing, restaurants, public spaces, and better connections while keeping the offices and businesses already there.

It’s also closely tied to a question we’ve talked about recently: what happens to Dublin’s older office districts as the way companies use office space changes?

Metro Center is where the City is trying to answer that question on a pretty big scale.

City Council adopted the overall vision in 2024. Now the rules that could make it happen are starting to take shape, including new design guidelines and a zoning roadmap.

On Wednesday, September 2, you’ll be able to see the 3D model, preview those proposed guidelines, and talk directly with the people working on the project.

The open house runs from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Development Building, 5200 Emerald Parkway, and you can drop in anytime.

If you live nearby, work in Metro Center, or are simply curious about what Dublin has planned for one of its oldest major office districts, this is probably the best chance yet to see where it’s headed.

Could America’s favorite couple be from Dublin?

One local couple is getting surprisingly close.

Annmarie and Todd DeWitt of Dublin have made it to the quarterfinals of a nationwide competition to find “America’s Favorite Couple”—and their story started at a place plenty of longtime Dublin residents will remember.

Annmarie and Todd met there about 10 years ago, back when the longtime Dublin institution would pack out during tournament week. The Bogey later became part of their engagement story too, and they’ve now been married for five years.

Fast forward to today, and they’re competing against couples from across the country for a $20,000 prize, a feature in Variety, and a celebrity dinner date with Jeff and Emilie Goldblum and Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis.

They’ve already made it through several rounds of public voting to reach the quarterfinals.

The next cut comes Thursday, August 27, when the field will be narrowed again for the semifinals.

So a love story that started over Memorial weekend at the Bogey now has a shot at being named America’s favorite.

That’s about as Dublin as a love story gets.

Remember that candy you were obsessed with as a kid?

There’s a decent chance you can find it at Bridge Park now.

Rocket Fizz opened today, bringing a candy store that’s basically designed to make you walk around saying, wait… they still make that?

The shelves are packed with old-school and hard-to-find candy, retro treats, international sweets, and a pretty enormous assortment of bottled sodas. There are also retro toys, collectibles, and plenty of intentionally weird stuff mixed in.

The new shop is at 4482 Bridge Park Ave., across from SpringHill Suites, and it’s the first Rocket Fizz in Dublin. There’s already a location in the Short North, although the stores are independently owned and operated.

And this one kind of snuck up on us.

We’ve been watching restaurants, offices, and major developments take shape around Bridge Park for months. Then suddenly, there’s a new candy store open for business.

So next time you’re walking around Bridge Park, you have another place to wander into—even if it’s only to find out whether they still make that one candy you haven’t thought about in 20 years.
