[HERMANTOWN] Big changes are happening at Hermantown’s hockey complex.

The NorthStar Ford Arena is being added onto the existing Hermantown Arena, bringing a second sheet of ice, upgraded player spaces, better viewing areas, and a new walkway that connects to nearby schools and the YMCA. When complete in December, it’ll be a go-to spot for sports and community events all year long.

New condos planned for a site in Duluth’s Woodland neighborhood are moving forward following City Council approval.

Titanium Partners will build two new condominium buildings at 2732 Woodland Avenue. The project will bring for-sale housing, a new public street, and trail connections to Allendale Avenue and Hartley Park.

Two national tenants are officially set to complete The Jigsaw in Duluth Heights.

According to planning documents, 7 Brew Coffee and Take 5 Oil Change will occupy the remaining eastern parcels at 421 Anderson Road. The site was reconfigured after earlier plans for different tenants did not move forward, with a new subdivision approved this spring to accommodate both drive-thru concepts.

They’ll join Mister Car Wash (now open) and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen (under construction) at the fully leased site.

Bass Pro Shops' new 70,000 square foot store will be housed within an existing building along Haines Road which will be renovated.

The Hermantown location will occupy an existing 70,000 square foot building on Haines Road. It will be Bass Pro Shops' first Minnesota location and will join the other four Cabela's locations within the state.

A new(ish)-to-the-market bank is planning a second branch location in Duluth.

Bell Bank will construct a new location on the north side of W Arrowhead Road on what today is a vacant site next door to McCoy Construction & Forestry. The new 4,000 square foot building will be the first phase of a two-phase commercial development and will be constructed in an area that is becoming a hot spot for new development.

A new-to-the-market med spa could fill one of the last remaining spaces in a new retail development planned for Duluth Heights.

Chapter Aesthetic Studio would be the latest tenant to sign on to “The Jigsaw”, a new retail development planned for the corner of W Central Entrance and Anderson Road. The company would occupy a 3,500 square foot, free-standing building at the corner the development, adjacent to three other commercial buildings.

One of the largest fitness chains in the United States is looking to open their first Twin Ports location in the heart of Duluth’s retail corridor.

Planet Fitness plans to construct a brand new 22,300 square foot facility with 189 parking spaces at 2327 Mountain Shadow Drive. An existing building on site that currently is home to County Lanes North would be demolished to make way for the new building.

Ooo la la! Look at the construction progress on Essentia Health’s massive expansion!

The new $900 million, 942,000 square foot, 14-story medical facility is rising on a site just a few blocks away from the shores of Lake Superior next to Essentia Health’s existing campus. The massive project is so large that it technically stretches over two blocks from Fourth Avenue E, crossing over E First Street and ending at Superior Street.

When complete in early 2023, the Vision Northland project will include an eight-story clinic and 12-story hospital with the two-buildings being connected through multiple floors and a concourse level. EwingCole is responsible for the design of the buildings which are being constructed by McGough Construction.
