I don’t post a lot on this page often, sorry. But when I do, it is usually because I need help. I have been researching antenna gain and design for close to 60 years. The old CB days. Over that time I built a number of antennas and no mater how you cut it, I am sold on a stainless steel whip antenna. Simplicity at its finest and indestructible in most cases. With every bit of gain you seem to achieve in design, there is always a problem with something else being lost. My recent endeavor is a Omni directional beam antenna. What I mean is a Omni direction antenna with the perfect symmetrical field, but with a lobe in one direction where you can point that lobe at that station without using two antennas or losing the backside. Possibly using ground radials to help direct the wave or use a swingable director without any reflector. Any ideas?
Will let You know what I find out.
