The Highgate Eye The Highgate eye is a celebration of the absurdity of modern living with a focus on South Durham NC Why the Eye?

Started in the spring of 2019 The Highgate Eye began as a reaction to the realization that MAD magazine was on the verge of disappearing like so much print media. The random appearance of home made ‘Zines such as this-- in the suburbs of South Durham was necessitated by the culture of un-examined living in a world controlled by Home Owners Associations. The irony that you are reading this via Facebook is not lost, and neither should your sense of humor about the community in which you live.

This Florida homeowner was cuffed and locked up for 7 days like a criminal… all because of brown grass and a missed court date tied to petty HOA complaints. Her mailbox had mildew, her garage had a dent, and her lawn wasn’t green enough—so a judge signed an arrest warrant and ordered her held without bond. “I was shackled from my hands to my feet in civil court... just for my yard.” 👀
