A year ago, I published a book that changed my life.
I didnโt have a literary agent.
I didnโt have a publishing deal.
I didnโt have a marketing team.
I had a story.
A story about faith.
A story about identity.
A story about being a Black Muslim woman trying to find herself beneath everything the world told her she should be.
Today, seeing Unboxed: That Black Muslim Girl with a Writerโs Digest Honorable Mention seal feels like a reminder that sometimes the things we build in faith travels farther than we ever imagined.
This book opened doors.
It introduced me to readers around the world.
It led to book fairs, interviews, speaking opportunities, and an entire collection of books that would follow.
Unboxed was never just a memoir.
It was the beginning.

Thank you to every reader who bought a copy, shared a post, left a review, invited me to an event, or simply believed in me before the world did.
Weโre just getting started.
