As a veteran, I pause on this Memorial Day weekend to reflect on what truly fills the hearts and minds of so many Americans.

For countless people, it has become little more than a three-day break—time for backyard barbecues, store-wide sales, and long-awaited getaways.

Yet beneath the noise of celebration lies a sobering reality: since 1775, more than 1.2 million brave men and women have laid down their lives in service to our nation.

Countless families still remember the telegram, the folded flag, or that dreaded knock at the door that changed everything forever.

Millions of children have grown up never knowing their father’s voice or their mother’s embrace. Spouses have faced empty chairs at the dinner table, and parents have buried sons and daughters who never came home.

Others, haunted by the invisible wounds of combat—traumatic memories and the crushing weight of survivor’s guilt—have taken their own lives in the quiet battles that continue long after the fighting ends.

In the midst of our freedom, may we never forget that every blessing we enjoy was purchased with a price. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Today, let us honor those who paid that ultimate price. Let us pray for the families, the friends, and the loved ones who still feel the ache of their absence—and for all of us, that we would remember their sacrifice with grateful hearts.

Please join us in prayer for the Miller family.

Dear Church Family,

It is with heavy hearts that we share this sorrowful news. Over the weekend, our dear brother in Christ, Pastor Mason Miller of FBC Alfalfa, along with his wife Megan and their precious family, were called to say goodbye to their beloved 11-year-old daughter, Molly. In this time of profound loss, we grieve with them and yet cling to the blessed hope we have in our risen Savior.

We ask that each of you would set aside special time to lift this dear family and our sister church in Alfalfa before the throne of grace. May the God of all comfort draw near to them, wrapping them in His everlasting arms, filling them with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and sustaining them with the sure promise that Molly is now safe at home with Jesus.

The viewing of Molly Miller will be held this evening from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home in Anadarko.

The Ministerial Alliance will also be hosting a prayer vigil at 8:00 PM tonight downtown.

A Celebration of Life service will take place tomorrow at 10:00 AM at FBC Anadarko.

If you would like to attend with others from our church family, we will meet at 8:30 AM tomorrow morning in front of the church building and travel together to Anadarko.
