New Belgium Brewing checked all the boxes: outdoor seating, great food, and a front-row seat to the French Broad River.

Jamie grabbed a beer, we snacked on Smokee’s wood-fired pizzas, and the tubers drifting by provided the best kind of lazy-afternoon entertainment.

Babymoon mornings call for cozy cafes, and Abeja’s House Cafe was exactly that. ☕

Jamie went straight for the special (a chorizo hash), while I tucked into a breakfast sandwich with spinach, peppers, and pork sausage on vegan sourdough — plus a mountain of roasted potatoes! 😋

Extra love for their gluten-free and allergy-friendly menu! The staff was super sweet and attentive, nothing but locals in here when we visited (so we knew we found a little gem).

Evening stop at Barley’s in Asheville for a little taste of “home.” 🎱

We played plenty of pool at their Greenville location, so it was the perfect low-key night out on our babymoon.

Negroni in one hand (for Jamie) and water in the other (for me), and Baby Bean already learning the fine art of a cozy night out. 🥰

Nothing says “babymoon kickoff” quite like tacos in the mountains. 🌮

White Duck Taco has been a long-time favorite, and we love how their creative flavor combos and easy substitutions make it such an effortless, delicious stop before diving into the rest of the city.⁠ Fresh tacos, fun combos, and a table just big enough for Jamie, me, and one very curious Baby Bean. ⁠

Pictured here are the Bangkok Shrimp, Crispy Chicken BLT, and the Bahn Mi Tofu tacos (clockwise from the top). I forgot to snag pics of Jamie’s tacos, but he chose the Steak & Cheese, Bangkok Shrimp, and the Spicy Buffalo Chicken!

Our garden came through BIG this year—literally! 🍉

This 27-pound watermelon was the star of the show. We saved some for snacking, and the rest got turned into my favorite frozen Agua Fresca recipe with just three ingredients: lime juice, ice, and watermelon. So simple. So refreshing. So necessary. 🙌

We've found historic charm & allergy-conscious eats! 🍳✨

Tucked into Pendleton Square since May 1995, The Village Bakery & Cafe offers a bright café side and an open-view bakery for sweets.

We easily customized our breakfast (the "Morning Special" and my "Breakfast Burrito") for dairy-free and gluten-free needs, then walked "next door" for GF pastries, which was a big treat for Mom!

Can't wait to swing by for their Sunday brunch buffet with a Mediterranean twist— GF sides, quiche of the day, fresh baked bread, and so much more!

When your sourdough starter and your recipe show up for you 🙏🍞

We’ve had such great luck with this Farmhouse on Boone sourdough bread recipe lately—soft, chewy, and perfect for everything from toast to sandwiches.

Restaurant Week SC is always a highlight of our August, and this year, Ji-Roz was such a treat. ✨

We started with their fried olives—warm, briny bites wrapped in the perfect golden crust—before diving into the bubbling bouyourdi, where imported sheep’s milk feta meets roasted tomatoes and peppers in melty perfection.

For mains, Jamie went hearty with the Kokkinisto, a slow-braised beef stew rich with tomato and spices, while I loved the wood-fired bronzini, crisp-skinned and kissed with smoke.

I couldn't have the desserts, but Jamie loved the Lemon Pistachio Posset (which we took to go) and the Cinnamon Pie! We also brought home a freshly-made baguette that has gone great with the soups we’re using to get me past this head cold. 🤧

Been craving all the nostalgic snacks lately, so I whipped up a “healthified” version of this childhood classic: almond butter, organic fluff, cocoa nibs, and my homemade whole wheat sandwich bread.
