Today might be the day that PictaBase gets submitted for distribution. Final tests are astoundingly promising, with sub 20ms redraw times during scroll, even on massive libraries. This is enterprise level performance. Very excited!

I can't walk away, it seems. Implemented star rating system tonight. Just another way to find and organize your favorite photos. However your brain works, there should be a way to make PictaBase fit your mold.

Many improvements over the past few days: Search or Filter by both EXIF (camera metadata) or upload dates. Search or Filter by notes. Camera capture on mobile devices. And the ability to add default terms for uploads, so if you're on a job site and know today's work will have similar attributes, you can pre-set them. Still need a few people willing to play around with it, before going live. Please reach out.

PictaBase is a visual database (DAM) for boot-on-the-ground teams, not C-Suite button pushers. Although they're welcome too. It uses AI-powered tagging and simple, intuitive, chip-based search to locate assets instead of relying on standard folder structures.

Technical details:

Stack: PHP 8.2+, React 18, Tailwind CSS v4.

Storage: AWS S3 integration.

Database: Custom tables via ACF Custom Database Tables (CDT).
