About a month after opening Salt City Warehouse, Rocco Leone had a souvenir pillow on display, the kind soldiers used to bring home for their wives from wherever they were stationed. A woman came in, spotted it, and asked if it was for sale. When she explained that she had met her husband at the very base featured on the pillow, Rocco did not hesitate. He sold it to her on the spot. For Rocco, that moment summed up exactly what the store is about, putting the right piece in the right hands, and giving it a meaning that goes well beyond a price tag.

Rocco Leone of Salt City Wearhouse is sharing some insider knowledge for anyone looking to get into vintage clothing. According to Rocco, T-shirts are the entry point and the key detail to look for is the single stitch. Prior to the mid-to-late 1990s, T-shirts were stitched differently, and that one small detail can help a thrifter date a piece almost immediately. It is the kind of knowledge that separates a casual shopper from someone who really knows what they are looking at. Y'all gotta checkout Rocco's stuff!

Rocco Leone, owner of Salt City Warehouse, says running the store never really feels like a job. Surrounded by vintage clothing and constantly working to make the space look its best, he finds the whole thing genuinely enjoyable, even when the work piles up. That passion is what keeps him coming back every day. Those price tags do get a bit tedious though.

Sometimes the smallest details say the most. Jennifer Covert, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Eastern Onondaga County, shared the story of one of their longtime clients — a man who loves his Meals on Wheels drivers so much that he named one of them in his will to inherit his dog, Jack, when he passes. He didn't even ask. He just did it. And if his brother isn't around to receive his belongings, everything goes to Meals on Wheels. Jennifer was the first to admit it's an unusual story — but it's one that speaks volumes about the bond that forms between volunteers and the people they serve. For many of these clients, Meals on Wheels isn't just a food delivery service. It's family.

The pandemic changed a lot of things — but for seniors, many of those changes never went away. Jennifer Covert, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Eastern Onondaga County, spoke about why the need for services like Meals on Wheels has only grown since COVID. Senior food insecurity was already a serious issue before the pandemic, but the isolation that followed made things significantly worse. Many seniors who couldn't leave their homes simply stopped wanting to. Jennifer believes that showing up for them — with a hot meal, a familiar face, and a genuine connection — gives them something to live for and allows them to stay in the homes they love, surrounded by the memories they've built over a lifetime.

Most people don't realize that Meals on Wheels isn't just for seniors — and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Jennifer Covert, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Eastern Onondaga County, explained that anyone can sign up for meal delivery for as little as $10 a day. That covers two meals, brought hot to your door — often for less than what it would cost to shop and cook yourself. For those who qualify for assistance programs, the cost can be even lower. It's a service that's more accessible than most people think, and Jennifer wants the community to know the door is open.
