So, real quick origin story…

Nat had told me for almost 2 years that she wanted to make a song called “HOT PHOTOS.” I couldn’t tell at first if she was for real… I couldn’t envision lyrics based off the title… but, she would mention the song all the time. I was intrigued… still couldn’t figure out how she was gonna write an entire song about taking hot photos at this point though lol…

Fast forward to this past spring… I was like “you got any song references for this ‘HOT PHOTOS’ idea - for inspiration?” She sends me a playlist… I think I have the idea now… I make a beat - but, wasn’t sold on it. She was like “the tempo & the drums are perfect - just not the melody” (she was right, it won’t it 😆) So, I holla at like “hey man, I feel like your production style would fit well with this song idea Natalie has… here’s the beat I made - we don’t like it - but, we like the drums… you think you can build around the drums, if I send you the stems?” He hits me back a few days later, with the melody/instrumentation pretty much the way you hear it now. But, I STILL have no idea how Nat’s gonna make an entire song about “hot photos”… she sent me the first cut, a few days later and it blew me away! Clever. Sassy. Vivid. Edgy. Playful. The personification was/is A1.

Once again, Nat’s ✍🏻 never ceases to amaze me!

In exactly 24 hours, first ever EP, releases on all platforms, and I could not be more proud!

To have witnessed, first hand, her growth from the day we met back in 2017, to now… it’s truly amazing. Humbled that she entrusted & myself () to steer the ship on her career, and for allowing me to be her producer.

I had gotten out of posting every year on the anniversary of when we lost you here on earth, because it started to make me sad… but, I figured I owed you one today, because I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately…

My “LIVE YOUR DASH BAND” still stays on 24/7, 365… but, this one’s starting to fade - a lot like the memories after 13 long years… but, they’ll never go away… And, I need to holla at Joe Joe for a new wristband... You know he keeps them thangz on him! lol… Love you brotha 🕊️

#2023 was full of ups & downs. But, when really reflecting on it, no matter how hard it got or still is, this year brought the best out of me! Close to 1M streams just this year as a producer… released 9 new records with the team Fourth Quarter Time, LLC… started a home renovation company with my wife Mary Catherine Smoak… and we became a family of 4, with our son Eli 👶🏻

About a month ago, I got my first Spotify 1M stream record (as an “artist”), and I wasn’t sure if I was going to share about it… it’s a weird feeling to see something consumed by 1M people, to still go unnoticed by the public. But, that’s the industry now! So much access & so many people releasing songs on a daily basis… kinda gets lost in the sauce! Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway, decided to post about it, because I want to thank the people that worked on this record with us:
