Traffic alert for this Saturday morning, 5/7. See details below!

Traffic Alert - Saturday Morning Half Marathon beginning at 8:30 AM

The Elizabethton Police Department welcomes those participating in the Second Annual Music and Miles Half Marathon this Saturday morning. We ask that motorist in Elizabethton near the race route and in the Downtown area use extra care and caution and watch for City Police officers, Street, Parks, and Fire Department employees, along with many race volunteers that will be out at intersections along the race route to insure safety of the race participants. This 13.1 mile foot race starts and finishes on Third Street at the Covered Bridge Park and stretches across town from 19E to Hatcher lane to the Tweetsie Trail all the way to the turn around on the trail just before Mary Patton Highway. The following intersections without traffic signals will be closed to vehicle traffic with barricades to insure the safety of the race participants- Legacy Drive at West G and Forsyth, Ward Street at West G and West Elk, Parkway Boulevard from West Elk to West G, and Holly Lane at West Elk to Lee Avenue. In addition to the Tweetsie Trail, the race course is also on some open streets, so we ask for runners to be alert for vehicles in these areas and move to the sidewalk or left of the street in the neighborhood streets around TA Dugger, Elizabethton High School, West Side Elementary, and along Hattie Avenue downtown.
More detailed information along with race map and parking locations can be found at the links below.

Today is the National Day of Prayer. 🙏 Elizabethton will hold a gathering outside the Carter County Courthouse at noon. If you can't get there, you can always take a few minutes right where you are to pray for our country, our national & local leaders, the situation in Ukraine, our world, your family, your community.....the list could go on & on. We have much to be thankful for and there is much that is not so great.

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. Matthew 18:20 NIV

Virginia Hollow Concert

Coming up JUNE 17 at The Bonnie Kate Theater:
Virginia Hollow is a band and a sound born from the hills, valleys and mountains of Appalachia. Their performances and music take you on a journey fraught with raw emotions and stories of love, trust, betrayal, and longing. When all is said and done, the haunting melodies of Carrie Hinkley's soulful voice are hard to shake off and instead keep returning and playing in one's mind, like an untamed mantra of beauty and tragedy. This is a band whose time has come to be reckoned with.
Carrie Hinkley: Vocals & Acoustic Guitar
Alan Graf: Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin
Sue Winchester: Upright Bass & Harmony Vocals
Americana, Bluegrass, Country, Indie, and Rock

WBEJ’s History

As Elizabethton/Carter County, Tennessee's oldest radio station, WBEJ's long established and steady listening audience has enabled the station to remain one of the best media buys in the Northeast Tennessee market.

Since July, 1946 WBEJ has provided its listeners with a mix of local and regional news and information, with the music most preferred by the Carter County and surrounding area radio listeners. As a result, WBEJ has maintained its veteran listeners, yet also attracts younger audiences by adapting programming adjustments in conjunction with changing popular trends in the radio listening market. Because country music has been the most popular format in the Northeast Tennessee area including Carter County for over a decade, WBEJ uses a contemporary country music and local/regional information programming mix to maintain and expand its audience base.

To enhance our programming and coverage area, WBEJ added the FM 107.9 frequency in 2012. This provides a clean stereo signal for our listeners and advertisers.
