This piece draws us into the quiet of Psalm 143:8: “Let me hear in the morning of Your steadfast love, for in You I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul.”
Morning is more than a time of day—it is a posture. It represents the first turning of the heart, before the voices of the world begin to speak. It is that sacred threshold where the soul has not yet chosen its direction, where the path is still open, and our desires are still being formed.
The open Bible and the cup of warm drink on the porch remind us that hearing the Lord is not accidental. There is a quiet waiting here. A settled stillness that says, “Before I choose my steps, I will listen.” The mountains in the distance stand firm, unshaken by the rising light—an image of the faithfulness of God, steady and unchanging. The mist lingering in the valley whispers of our own uncertainty, the places we cannot yet see clearly. Yet the sun rises. Light enters. Direction comes slowly, but surely, to those who wait upon Him.
David’s prayer is not merely for comfort but for guidance:
“Make me know the way I should go.”
This is the heart of surrender—not asking God to bless the path we have already chosen, but to reveal the path before we move.
In this still frame, the morning becomes worship:
Trust before planning.
Listening before speaking.
Receiving before doing.
It is here—on the threshold of the day—that we remember who leads, who loves, and who sustains.
