It is our pleasure to officially release 'More love to Thee, O Christ', a setting of Elizabeth Prentiss's text by James J. Richardson. Linked here is the world premier last year.

It has been a favorite of the St. Augustine choir ever since, and we hope and pray your choirs may love it too. This text is a good "general" text that can be used at any point throughout the year, by any Christian denomination.

Musically, it is not difficult; it was designed to be learned quickly by a pickup choir for a special event, so there is only one SATB section, and we have prepared comprehensive A/T/B practice tracks of that verse that you can share with your singers.

Please consider for your choirs this year! (Link to the score in the comments.)

I try to always think in terms of *liturgy* first, and music second, when it comes to planning any given Mass. With that in mind, I do not emphasize July 4th in any way on the nearest Sunday, since it is not "July 4th Sunday".

In an attempt to better catechize the congregation as to why this is, I have inserted the following "music minute" into our worship aids, which you are welcome to use as well if you find it helpful.

I've recently been trying my hand at arranging a few bilingual psalms for our cathedral, and I would like to offer two psalm settings for free: Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd..." and Psalm 34, "The Lord delivered me from all my fears."

Please feel free to download and use them if they helpful for your parish. The idea was to compose simple psalms for use *with organ* that could seamlessly transition between English/Spanish verse to verse. Psalm 23 is written out (and therefore the mixture of verses are fixed) whereas Psalm 34 is pointed, which permits maximum flexibility. I'd be curious to know peoples thoughts / preferences on this.

You can read more, download, and preview them all here:

In my capacity as director of music for a cathedral, it’s not uncommon that I’m tasked with planning bilingual English/Spanish liturgies. As is the case for many places in the USA, we have a very significant Hispanic population within our diocese, and it is growing steadily. That said, there see...

As there appears to be an error in the USA lectionary with this Sunday's refrain (it should be V.5, not V.8), and anticipating a lack of correct arrangements, we are offering a setting of Psalm 34 with the correct verse free to parishes that might wish to use it.

You can read more and download (as well as preview it) here:

“The Lord delivered me from all my fears.” Offered for free here today is a setting of Psalm 34, as prescribed for the Solemnity of Sts. Peter & Paul. This edition is offered for free because it sets the correct text of the antiphon. The American English edition of the Lectionary (as we

Free score alert! "Of Thy Mystical Supper" a traditional Orthodox prayer / chant which would be perfect for Corpus Christi.

I was first exposed to this piece by Dr. Rebecca Raber when she made a SUBLIME recording with with her university choir (link in the article—seriously... go check it out).

After hunting around for a bit, I found a number of editions of this piece, many of which were hand-written, and all with little discrepancies. I took what I think were the best elements of all of them and have prepared a new engraving of the work, which is available and free for all.

ANY choir can sing this piece. Admittedly, it's best in a lively acoustic, but even humble churches should learn this piece! As usual, I've also prepared a comprehensive suite of practice tracks to help.

Greetings All—
I expect that many of you will be asked (rather like myself) to arrange a votive mass for the Election of a Pope (or a Bishop) in light of the impending conclave. To this end, I'm making my setting of Psalm 89, with the appropriate verses set, which is prescribed by the lectionary for this purpose.

The melody is based on that of an antiphon found in a 12th c. Cistercian Antiphonale.

Feel free to use and share:

Just in case anyone would like to chant the traditional Requiem Æternam, but needs it in the vernacular:

Here is a literal vernacular transcription of the traditional Introit for Requiem masses, rendered as faithfully as possible to the original. Great for parishes where you wish to incorporate more chant, but vernacular is needed. Also useful as a teaching tool to learn the original melody with mo
