SERVICE OUTAGE NOTICE:
Elko TV District viewers, please be advised that we are currently experiencing an outage affecting TV channels originating from Reno. This disruption is due to a fiber optic cut involving a Zayo 144-strand fiber line, which occurred under a bridge at approximately 11:30pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Crews are actively working to obtain replacement fiber and restore service.

At this time, we do not have an estimated time of restoration. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The Board is seeking applications from qualified persons who are interested in being appointed to the Elko Television District Board.

Per N.R.S. 318.090, any vacancy occurring on the Board of Trustees shall be filled by appointment by the remaining members of such board at a public meeting. Any person selected shall serve until the next general election, at which time the person may compete and be elected.

Qualifications:
A person interested in being appointed must be a qualified elector, have the qualifications needed to serve, and reside within the
boundaries of the Elko Television District.

How to Apply:
Interested persons must submit a letter explaining their interest in serving on the Board and a resume’ of their qualifications and background. Letters of interest and resume’s must be addressed to the Board Chairman, Elko TV District, P.O. Box 456, Elko, NV 89803, emailed to [email protected] or may be hand delivered to McMullen, McPhee & Company LLC, 215 Bluffs Ave Suite 300, Elko, NV 89801. Letters must be received at the PO Box, email or delivered in person to McMullen, McPhee & Company no later than 5:00 P.M. PDT, Thursday, January 30th, 2025.

Appointment Process
(1) All applications received by 5:00 P.M., Thursday, January 30th, 2025 will be submitted to the Board of Trustees during the February 6th,
2025 Elko Television District Board meeting.
(2) Following a review of the applications received, the Board of Trustees will make an appointment to fill the vacancy, also during the February 6th, 2025 meeting of the Board. Appointment will be for the period from February, 2025 through December, 2026.

A map denoting the Elko Television District boundaries may be viewed at the Elko County Clerk’s office, upstairs at the Elko County Courthouse.

We have had some questions thrown our way that maybe I can clarify. One concerns the changes in some of the programming of a few channels, "Where did the Nevada Sports Network come from?". it seems that the broadcast station is under new ownership and the sports network is what they had access to and was put on the main channel and the sub channels are open for what they wish to add at a later date.

We have no control over what is programmed on the feeds we are able to get.

People have also asked about the "Test Signal" message, that is embedded into the transmitters we use, if we see that message we know our transmitters are still functional and the problem lies with our network feed, then our techs can start looking into the network to see where the problem lies, whether here or in any of the downstream fiber feeds we get.

We are having some issues with the Reno channels due to the fires in the area, at this time we don't have a restoration timeline, we are being told that power outages at the transmitter sites is affecting our feed.
