Snowfall Forecast Update for Late Wednesday Through Thursday:

Snow returns later this week across the northern areas of the region bringing the chance for some light to moderate snow accumulations. Freezing rain is a possibility as well though there's still plenty of uncertainty yet with where and how much freezing rain we could see.

This fast-moving system aims to bring 1 to 3 inches of snow mainly north of the Twin Cities and St. Cloud. Heavier totals may be possible up towards Lake Superior.

Accumulating Snow Possible Late Wednesday into Thursday:

A winter system is forecasted to bring some snow accumulation to the region later this week mainly in the northern portions of the forecast area. Some folks especially up towards the arrowhead region could see some pretty heavy snow if the forecast continues to hold.

Folks' south of the Twin Cities on a line east and west likely won't see much for snow accumulation however there is a higher chance for rain/freezing rain mainly in the low confidence accumulation zone.

Chance for Snow Next Week:

Overall confidence in snow accumulation south of I-94 seems unlikely as of now, but further north there's pretty good confidence in some snow accumulation.

Rain will likely dominate further south of the expected snow accumulation. Unfortunately, the grey areas may miss out on this system. Tons of uncertainty exists yet; we'll have a better idea on what to expect in the next few days.

I'm sorry snow and ice fishing lovers, but we're about to climb that thermometer the next few days. Highs well into the 30s and potentially even 40s for some locations around the region.

Some sort of winter system will move through the region next week. Temperatures are expected to be warm or near 40 degrees, so some of us may not see much of anything in terms of snow. Plenty of uncertainty yet.
