Ulster County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Robert Shamro, who began his distinguished 32-year law enforcement career with the Village of Ellenville Police Department, has officially retired. The village board had a new look for their January 12 meeting. Latisha Kentop and Nilsary Lewis-Rivera flanked Mayor Evan Trent signaling the arrival of new forces and the completion of a Democratic party consolidation on this board. Absent was former trustee T.J. Briggs. In addition, the mayor welcomed the new village manager, Nicky Woerner, sitting at the side table with Police Chief Mattracion and Village Clerk Michelle Booth. Village Attorney Ian Morse rounded out the scene, which was only missing Deputy Mayor Ray Younger and Code Enforcement Officer Dan Pollan for the complete set.
