NEW MEXICO HOMELESSNESS UP 55% OVER TWO DECADES
New data from New Mexico’s 2025 Point-in-Time Count shows approximately 4,683 people experiencing homelessness statewide. According to long-term trend data, homelessness in New Mexico has increased by about 55% over the past two decades.
The annual Point-in-Time Count is conducted each January and provides a snapshot of people experiencing homelessness on a single night. The 2025 count also found homelessness in Albuquerque increased about 8% from the previous year.
Advocates and researchers note the true number of people experiencing homelessness may be higher than annual counts indicate, as the survey captures only a single-day snapshot.
