📚⚖️ Should Arkansas Schools Post the Ten Commandments?
Big legal battle brewing in Arkansas.
A new law — Act 573 — says every public school classroom and library must display a large copy of the Ten Commandments. But last week, a federal judge blocked the law (at least for now) in four districts: Fayetteville, Springdale, Bentonville, and Siloam Springs.
The judge called the law “plainly unconstitutional,” pointing to a 1980 Supreme Court ruling that struck down a nearly identical law. Parents who sued (Jewish, Unitarian Universalist, atheist, and agnostic) argued it violates their right to raise their kids without government pushing religion.
💬 Meanwhile, many communities want the Ten Commandments posted, and schools technically have to follow state law unless courts say otherwise. Some superintendents are waiting. Others say they’ll hang the posters if someone donates them until told not to.
This is likely headed for higher courts — maybe even the U.S. Supreme Court.
👀 But right now, schools are stuck in the middle. Read about it here ⬇️⬇️
