Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a holiday of American Descent established on May 30th, 1868 by John A. Logan, the then Commander-In-Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Memorial Day was founded to honor those servicemen and women who have given their lives in defense and service of our nation. No matter where they served, no matter who they were, we devote a day of utmost respect to the legacy left behind by their unwavering dedication, immense bravery, and sacrifice to join any of our service branches and give their life to ensure the safety of those who depended on them back at home.
On this day, we lower all flags to half-staff. Many corporations dedicated to the honor of these fallen warriors conduct events to spread the word.
This year, Memorial Day will take place on a Monday, May 25th.
Many people confuse Veteran's Day with Memorial Day. Veteran's Day, taking place on November 11th, honors those who have thankfully returned from battle. From service. This Monday, we mourn those who were not so lucky.
