Police investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle who ran over a bicyclist at the corner of Washington Avenue and Ash Street on the evening of September 5. The crash occurred at about 9:20 p.m. as the bicyclist was riding east on Washington Avenue in the north crosswalk. A vehicle, described as a light-colored SUV with tinted windows – possibly a Ford Expedition or Explorer – was traveling west and made a right turn onto Ash Street, striking the bicyclist. The driver failed to stop and was last seen continuing north on Ash Street. The vehicle may have front end damage. The bicyclist, a 27-year-old male, was taken to an area hospital suffering from life threatening injuries. Anyone with information is asked to call Traffic Investigator Jake Houchin at 760-839 4904, or Police Dispatch at 760-839-4722.
