Earlier this week, something truly special happened in Escondido.

San Pasqual High School senior Jesse Lopez was honored for his incredible strength, resilience, and heart. Over the past year, Jesse cared for his older brother during his battle with cancer — supporting him until the very end — all while keeping up with school and staying committed to his soccer team.

At the Escondido Union High School District Board Meeting, Principal Cory Gregory, Coach/Counselor John Burson, and the entire San Pasqual Eagles Soccer Team showed up to recognize him. It was a powerful, bittersweet moment.

I’m proud to celebrate Jesse as San Pasqual High School’s November Inspirational Student — a young man whose perseverance, compassion, and character embody the very best of our community.

Congratulations, Jesse. Your future is bright — and you’ve already inspired so many of us.
