Per the US National Weather Service Medford Oregon , the current storm cycle will be winding down later this afternoon, but snowfall and icy roadways persist throughout the county, particularly at elevations above 3,500ft.
Due to heavy snowfall on Highway 89, chains or traction devices are required on all vehicles except four wheel/all wheel drive vehicles with snow-tread tires on all four wheels. For road cameras and chain control updates, visit: https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/
We advise everyone traveling through the southern portion of Siskiyou County to increase their stopping and following distances and allow extra time to reach their destination. In addition, remember that black ice is possible even if roadways appear to be snow free, so reduce your speeds, particularly in shaded areas and near waterways.
