Working late at night, a thought occurred to me while I was sketching out the designs for my Mer-May section of drawings and watching a Youtube video about AI crochet generated pictures being sold as real patterns.
I realized that more traditional artists now HAVE TO PROVE that we are traditional. I put my pencil down, and kinda thought about it for a moment. Going through my store pictures, I realized having nice product pictures of the finished product may now be seen as "fake" or "suspicious," when before that used to be the selling point. Now the opposite seems to be true.
Thankfully, I've taken pictures of all my works with my phone, or scanned in the unfinished pages, more for my own references in case my drawings ever got destroyed halfway through their development process, but now they may have to be included. I'm also going to take some photos of my finished pixel art sets. I've been wanting to get back into making perlers anyway! It's a good excuse to do so! It'll be so cute to hold some of the finished perler pieces in my hands, and take pictures of the process as well. I won't put the picture sketches on the Etsy listing itself, but I think I'll put them here on the Facebook. I can use more "posting practice" anyway. Though I have been considering putting pictures of the finished physical perlers. This definitely seals the deal for me that it would be a good idea.
It's a new way to think. Not necessarily bad, but tedious. One, I hate showing unfinished work at times, because I may change the composition or faces quite a bit during the initial stages and I REALLY don't like playing the social media game when I can be creating something, and two, I feel motivated, but kinda sad that there are people who would go that far. But hey! Can't do anything about them, I can only do what I can do! I was going to add my rough sketches to my art book anyway! Who knows? Maybe people might like to see some of the prior poses or weird faces I had before.
Here's some prior sketches to get me started! These are some of the prior stages of my "Joy and Eagle" drawing. The very first drawing I ever did for my coloring pages. I used my old phone to take these pictures before I got my scanner.
