As New Year’s Eve gets closer, so does the risk for drunk and impaired driving and other crimes. Eugene Police Department suggests the following tips for those out enjoying the holiday tomorrow night:
- Pay attention to vehicles that don’t stop at stop lights, and avoid them.
- Watch out for drivers turning when they’re not supposed to as it could signal an impaired driver.
- Keep your valuables close to you while out celebrating.
- If you notice a friend has had too much to drink, don’t let them drive.
- Have heightened awareness at bars and other venues where alcohol is served as there is more of a likelihood for fights and violence.
