One of the things I love most about Florida is gardening all year round. Many take a break in the summer because it is very HOT! However, if you are an early riser, you can beat the heat and rains and plant an abundance of food through July and August.

🍇 Grow Local with Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry Trees! 🌿
Looking for a delicious, low-maintenance fruit tree that actually thrives in Florida? Try planting this variety of mulberry! These small-but-mighty trees fit perfectly in home gardens and produce sweet, juicy berries that birds and other critters prefer - which means they’ll leave your other fruit trees alone!😄 But their will still be plenty for you to enjoy from these prolific producers. The best part? Mulberries are packed with antioxidants, taste amazing fresh off the tree, and you won't find them in stores - they’re too delicate to ship! That’s what makes growing your own so rewarding. Support your ecosystem, feed your family, and enjoy delicious fruits that money can't buy. 🍓🌳

🧅🌿 Onion Harvest Day! 🌿🧅

We pulled up our garden onions this week, and they’re looking (and smelling!) great. These were planted back in the cooler months and have been slowly growing ever since — onions like to take their time.

If you’ve never tried growing onions before, they’re one of the easiest garden staples. We started with sets (little baby bulbs), gave them plenty of sunshine and water, and just let them do their thing. Once the tops started to fall over and dry out, we knew they were ready.

Next up: curing them in a cool, dry spot so they store well. Homegrown onions can last for months if you cure them properly — such a good feeling to have homegrown flavor ready whenever you need it.

Let us know if you’re thinking about growing some — we’re happy to share what we’ve learned!
