Today 23 years ago I was a sophomore, getting on the bus. I sat there and joked with the others kids that it had to be a joke that someone with a sicker sense of humor than me was playing. There’s no way a plane would hit those towers. It couldn’t have been possible. As we get to school it was nonstop news all day long. My oldest brother at the time was a pilot, it wasn’t his plane right??
To quote the great Alan Jackson “what were you doing that September day?”
2,977 families were destroyed that day, 7,085 military families have been destroyed in the 23 years since. That day will forever be etched in the minds of countless Americans. So many of us have been molded into who we are today. Many spouses, like mine, felt the call that day to join and fight for our country. Many fathers and mothers called back to ensure the freedoms we take advantage of. To try to make right the loss all those families have lost.
Thank you to all. You are the truest heroes and there is never anything I can do to repay you.
Remember on this Patriots Day all those who are not with us, they have given us this life we still live to this day.
