“Romano continued, ‘I think as I started getting older, it started to feel like I was making my name off of somebody else’s name, like I’m just known as a guy who interprets other songwriters. And I think it was this sense in myself that I have that I’m constantly trying to challenge myself to do the harder thing than the easier thing, which made me think maybe I can write a song.’

“And so, as a senior in high school, Hallman traded in his surfboard for a guitar, quickly becoming a self-taught musician. Soon after, he was already diving headfirst into songwriting.

‘The kids I would play in that band with—I don’t even know if I would call it a band; it was just kind of a jam thing in a basement. They were a lot better than me, and I was like, “Okay, what can I bring to the table? Well, I can try and write a song,”’ says Hallman.”

We are three weeks away from our next Songs & Stories Show with this incredible lineup of local talent!

I thought I would introduce some of them....

Johnny Kasun - Singer/songwriter, guitar extraordinaire... Johnny brings a unique blend of talent, heart, and musicianship to everything he plays.

Sandi Joy - Singer/songwriter, Coast Guard veteran, and visual artist with a voice of an angel. Sandi has a beautiful way of connecting with an audience through both her music and her storytelling.

Cole Hallman - A Season 20 American Idol contestant, singer/songwriter, and coastal folk-rock artist. Cole brings a fresh, soulful sound and plenty of energy to the stage.

Jack Romano -An Americana/folk singer-songwriter, recording artist, and actor whose music tells stories and captures that timeless rootsy spirit.

And then we have an extra special bonus…

Liam Bornovski will be adding his pedal steel magic to the stage, bringing that beautiful, unmistakable sound that can take a song to another level.

And I hear there may even be a special guest appearance by Joe Bellia on cajon and light percussion… adding that extra bit of magic and groove.

It’s shaping up to be a really special night of original music, storytelling, and incredible local talent.

The RiverJAM Music Songwriting Development Program is designed for dedicated songwriters looking to grow their craft, build industry connections, and create high-quality, distribution-ready music.

Selected artists will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with experienced professional mentors, including Gordon Brown, Reagan Richards, James Maddock, and Johnny Kasun, through personalized co-writing sessions and artist development opportunities.
