AUM as more than a mantra. It is a frequency signature of the cosmos itself. In the Vedic tradition, AUM is the sound of creation, the first movement of consciousness as it begins to manifest form. What makes this powerful is that the idea is not only spiritual. It is also vibrational and technical.

In acoustic terms, AUM is a complex tone built from specific harmonic relationships. The fundamental frequency often used for AUM in music is around 136.1 Hz, a C sharp derived from taking the length of a solar year and converting that cycle into the audible spectrum through successive doublings. This same tone is sometimes called the Earth Frequency or the Year Tone. It sits naturally within the family of ratios that show up in planetary resonance, yogic breath cycles, and the Schumann cavity of the Earth. When chanted, the mouth and nasal cavity generate a stack of harmonics that closely mirror the overtone series found in natural acoustic systems. This is why AUM feels so grounding and centering. It aligns the vocal tract with the physics of resonance.

On the physiological level, the long vowel sound of the “O” and the nasal closure of the “M” stimulate the vagus nerve, reduce sympathetic activation, and increase parasympathetic tone. This slows the breath, lowers heart rate, and supports coherent oscillations between the heart and brain. From an energetic perspective, AUM or OM sends a sonic pulse through the chakric and nadic system, creating a gentle entrainment effect. The vibration radiates through bone, fascia, and cerebrospinal fluid, encouraging the body to settle into its natural harmonic state.

AUM is not simply a sacred word. It is a vibratory technology. When used with attention, it opens the system to deeper coherence. It brings awareness inward. It stabilizes the mind below the level of thought. And it reconnects the practitioner with the primordial pattern of sound from which both matter and consciousness arise.

Maharishi taught that hearing is the subtlest of all the senses, the one most easily able to carry awareness beyond the noise of thought. Every sense has the potential to lead consciousness inward: sight through beauty, touch through stillness, taste and smell through presence. But sound is unique in its gentleness. It does not demand effort or focus; it simply arrives, and awareness follows.

In Transcendental Meditation, the mantra is that vehicle, a sound so refined that the mind rides it inward until both sound and thinker dissolve into pure awareness. Yet even beyond mantra, sound itself can be intentionally shaped to invite the same inward motion. Tones, harmonics, and frequencies can regulate the nervous system, slow the breath, and open perception to subtler layers of experience.

At the Source Vibrations Sound Clinic, we explore the hidden harmonies that connect sound, number, and consciousness. We're partial to the A = 432Hz tuning, known as the "scientific pitch", roughly -32 cents below the international tuning at A = 440Hz

An interesting thing about the 432 Hz pitch (A) is that each frequency on its harmonic spectrum, beginning with a 36 Hz fundamental, reduces numerologically to the number 9. In fact, 432 Hz is the 12th harmonic in that series. Every number in this harmonic sequence happens to be what’s called a Harshad number. The word Harshad comes from the Sanskrit harṣa (joy) + da (give) — meaning “joy-giver.”

Harshad or Niven numbers are whole numbers that are divisible by the sum of their digits. Take 72 for example: 7 + 2 = 9, and 72 ÷ 9 = 8, a whole number. In other words, 9 is a factor of 72 because 72 = 9 × 8. Remarkably, the sum of the digits in every number along the harmonic series also reduces to 9.

Why does 9 appear again and again, and what is its significance?
Nine is extraordinary. When multiplied by any digit, the sum of the result’s digits will always reduce to 9. This, along with the 2:1 ratio that defines harmonic doubling, causes these Niven numbers to repeat endlessly throughout the spectrum. It can be seen as a metaphor for the spiritual nature of existence: no matter how many times Spirit multiplies and expresses itself through diversity, it always remains itself — it always returns to One.

In Qabalistic tradition, the number 9, or the Ennead, corresponds to Yesod, the Foundation of manifestation on the Tree of Life. It is the final point where spiritual forces gather before taking form in the physical world. Yesod is the subtle plane that holds the etheric blueprint of mind and matter, the impulse that moves life onward and upward — from mineral to plant, from animal to human — expressing the primordial drive toward evolution and coherence. Nine is completion, integration, and maturity. It harmonizes the dynamic flow of opposites within the stillness of changeless being.
(1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 36 → 3 + 6 = 9)

Even the Hebrew word for Adam — as in Adam HaRishon or Adam Kadmon, the archetypal human — encodes this mystery.
Aleph = 1, Dalet = 4, Mem = 40 → 1 + 4 + 4 + 0 = 9.
Humanity itself, in its essence, carries the vibration of 9 — the joy-giver, the bridge between Heaven and Earth.

🌕 Ta**us Full Moon — The Resonance of Embodiment

Every celestial body resonates a frequency. This is the living meaning of the Hermetic axiom “As above, so below.” The divine architect builds the universe from a finite number of archetypal tones, patterns of vibration that repeat across every scale of being. What we call matter, emotion, or thought are simply Source frequencies expressed in different octaves. When a sound arises in one layer of creation, it echoes through them all: tone becomes color, color becomes form, form becomes psyche. To sound a note with intention and listen with the body is to touch the whole instrument of the cosmos.

When we consciously attune to a frequency, we’re not receiving something outside of us, we’re remembering resonance with an aspect of the Source pattern that already lives within us. We are partaking in the ritual of sympathetic resonance. To rest inside sound is to return to the architecture of divine order, to feel our own waveform aligning with the harmonic intelligence that holds the stars in orbit and clothes itself in our very bodies.

This full moon in Ta**us, resonating in C♯, draws us into the current of embodiment, beauty, and stability. Ta**us teaches the art of sacred listening, the devotion to form as an expression of the formless. It invites us to honor the rhythm of the Earth, to find the holy in the tangible, and to allow pleasure and presence to become our meditation. The Ta**us signature is the voice of the Inner Teacher, the harmonic intelligence that speaks through the senses, through the pulse of life lived fully and reverently.

Opposite the Sun in Scorpio, this lunation bridges the axis of life and death, matter and mystery. As light enters form, shadow dissolves to be renewed. The two signs sing together: Ta**us grounding the descent of spirit into flesh, and Scorpio refining its embodiment. In their harmony, we find the alchemy of incarnation, where the eternal learns to dance within time.

At this degree of Scorpio (the second decan) we encounter the signature of the Phoenix, death, purification, and radiant rebirth. This Full Moon Sound Ceremony at The Creativity Lab in Fairfield is an opportunity to surrender the ashes of what has been burned away, and rise renewed through sound, rhythm, and movement. As DJ Eman’s ecstatic dance set carries us from stillness into motion, we embody the Phoenix’s resurrection, devotion taking form through movement, spirit made visible through dance.
