Was just talking to a few people about DJing wedding so heres my own personal opinion, some of us are not just there to dj. There is prep for the wedding, we are there 2 hrs before & an 1hr after, it’s not a 5-6 hr event it’s a 10+ hr day
You are paying for someone that has experience with the task at hand….anyone can play the music but tell me your “family friend” for $800 is going to make your night memorable. The dj makes proper announcements, the introductions, someone who works with the wedding planner & other vendors well, someone who is insured & someone to control the flow of the night!

Weddings DJ’s should be anywhere from $2k-4k
Depending on experience & what “add-ons” you ask for
Photo booths should NOT be free(DJ’s pay a monthly charge to run the program so you have all your pics)
Uplights should not be FREE either, they are insanely expensive & take a lot to maintain, plus the programs to run them take time to learn

We all understand couples have a “budget” but remember your DJ is over 90% of your event….which is the most important part…….& you put the least amount of $ towards that.

No one remembers the flowers, food, room decor, they all say “omg I had so much fun last night dancing & my legs are so tired. The music was so much fun”f
