There are places in every home that quietly become our favorite.

Maybe it’s where the morning light always falls…
where the coffee tastes a little better…
or where life simply feels peaceful.

I think that’s one of the sweetest things about home—it doesn’t have to be perfect to become our favorite place.

If you could spend this Monday morning anywhere in your home, where would it be?

☀️ By the kitchen table?
🌿 On the porch?
📚 In your favorite chair?
🪴 Or somewhere else?

I love refreshing these little kitchen spaces—they always make the whole room feel new. 🤍

I think I'd leave the dishes for a little while.

I'd pour another cup of coffee... stand by the window... and enjoy the quiet before the day gets busy.

Mondays don't seem so bad when they begin like this.

Hope yours is a good one. 🌿

In her mid-50s, Tasha Tudor fulfilled her long-held dream of living in Vermont by devoting her considerable energy to building a new home. She laid down her watercolour brush, completing no books from 1971-1975, the longest book sabbatical of her career.

As usual, she knew exactly what she wanted. Her eldest son Seth already lived in Vermont and helped Tasha purchase adjoining land. Under Tasha’s guidance, he recreated a 1740s Cape Cod-style house owned by a New Hampshire friend.

Over time, Tasha created a cottage garden masterpiece saying “Some people call this a cottage garden, but it’s just a good messy garden. There’s no plan. It’s not like a painting – I just stick the plants in. I like large quantities of blooms all jumbled together: Reine de Violette roses, thalictrum, artemisia, iris, pinks, clematis, peonies, and forget-me-nots.”

Tasha suggested that her garden ought to return to nature after her passing. Her family continues to preserve this national treasure, but she may be getting her way after all. Flocks of cedar waxwings, vireos, sparrows, wrens, robins, and more delight in the concealing shrubbery. It is more like the Secret Garden than ever.

The main garden residents are the foxes who have raised litter after litter under the barns over the past decade. They watch Tasha’s family lawn mowing and weeding - bearing the presence of people who offer some safety from coyotes. The kits wrestle in the garden, mindless of the heirloom hollyhock seedlings.

Still living throughout the property, multiple generations of Tudors tend to the historic home, maintain the gardens and seedlings, raise chickens, and march through well worn paths with the newest generations of corgis.

The family isn’t sure what the future holds for this national treasure; a home with one foot in the late 20th century and the other in the 1830s. But there are many possibilities under unhurried consideration as they manage and live amongst her legacy.

☀️ Good Morning~

📖 But by the grace of God I am what I am.
1 Corinthians 15:10

I’ve always loved how plain this verse is.

No pretending. No bragging. Just the truth.

By the grace of God I am what I am.

And honestly, I think that means more to me the older I get. Because when I look back, there are so many ways I know God has carried me, corrected me, softened me, and grown me. Not all at once. Not perfectly. But little by little.

I’m thankful I’m not who I used to be in some ways.

And I’m thankful God is still working on me in the places that need it.

That verse just feels honest to me. Anything good in me has God’s grace all over it.

I hope there’s a little comfort in that for you today. 🤍🌿

Every old house has a corner that quietly invites you to stay a little longer.

Maybe it’s where you read, paint, write letters, or simply watch the afternoon light move across the floor.

What would you do in this room?

Some homes have a way of saying, “Stay awhile,” before anyone even opens the door.

Maybe it’s the worn wood floors.
Maybe it’s the afternoon light.
Or maybe it’s the memories waiting inside.

What makes a house feel like home to you? 🤍
