Brady is a great friend! Please consider them this holiday season!!
What started as a sore that wouldn’t heal became more serious when Liam Robertson developed pneumonia and enlarged lymph nodes in his neck, which required surgery to remove. After further testing, Liam was diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) — a rare immune disorder that affects the body’s ability to fight off certain infections.
Since his diagnosis, Liam has been taking daily medications and receiving three injections each week to help protect him from serious infections while we prepare for the next steps. While these treatments are important, they are not a cure.
There is hope. Liam will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant, which offers the possibility of curing CGD. We are incredibly grateful that his little sister Violet is a perfect match and will be donating her bone marrow to help her brother.
Before the transplant, Liam will undergo chemotherapy to prepare his body. The transplant process will include a 4–6 week hospital stay, followed by the need for our family to remain within 30 minutes of the hospital until the 100-day mark, while Liam lives in a strict germ-free environment as his immune system rebuilds.
