Check out a video I made of a pending storm from the other day:

🌧️✨ Park Hills, Get Ready! A Storm Is Dancing Our Way! ⚡

The skies over Park Hills are putting on a show—dark clouds swirling like an artist’s masterpiece, ready to splash the town with fresh rain and crackling thunder. It’s that magical moment when nature hits the stage, and the air feels electric with possibility!

Raindrops will soon tap their rhythm on rooftops, while thunder drums out a wild, thrilling soundtrack. It’s the perfect chance to cozy up, watch the sky’s spectacular light show, and feel the power of the storm’s beauty all around us.

So grab your favorite blanket, maybe a warm drink, and get ready to witness the sky’s dazzling dance. This isn’t just any storm—it’s a celebration from above!

Join us on an unforgettable journey to Hughes Mountain, nestled in the heart of the Ozarks and home to some of the most ancient exposed rock formations in the United States. This hidden gem showcases 1.5 billion-year-old Precambrian rhyolite rock outcrops—remnants of ancient volcanic activity that shaped the legendary St. Francois Mountains.

The real highlight? A surreal formation known as the Devil’s Honeycomb—a stunning cluster of polygonal columns formed as molten rock cooled and cracked. It’s one of Missouri’s true geologic wonders and the highest point on Hughes Mountain.

As we hike the trail upward, the atmosphere takes on an eerie, dreamlike quality—thanks to smoke from the Canadian wildfires drifting through the Ozark skies. The hazy sunlight and cloud-filtered colors create a dramatic scene you won’t forget, especially at sunset when the view opens west across the Missouri wilderness.

📸 Expect scenic vistas, volcanic history, and a little effort for a massive reward.

🌫️ Wildfire Smoke Over Missouri 🌫️
These two photos capture the eerie beauty of the Canadian wildfire smoke as it drifts into southeast Missouri, blanketing Hughes Mountain and the St. Francois Mountains in a soft, hazy veil. What’s usually a crisp, clear view is now filtered through a smoky haze — a powerful reminder of how far-reaching these wildfires can be.

Stay safe and keep an eye on air quality alerts if you're in the area. 🌲🔥
