Now that Easter has passed, it is a good time to remind people not to put all their eggs in one basket. Businesses should advertise on multiple platforms to increase effectiveness.

Personally, I like how radio and billboards work together. Both mediums primarily reach potential customers when they are in their vehicles. It is a tag team that gives you an unfair advantage over your competition.

Before you run off and get a billboard, make sure your radio ad and billboard share a common message and just like your radio spot, doesn't try to deliver too much information in a short time. Unlike radio, changing creative on a billboard can be costly. Have a simple branding message that compliments your radio and digital message.

I am John Larson, account executive with Cumulus Media. I joined Cumulus of Fayetteville in September of 2013 coming from a previous background of retail management and small business ownership. In my prior role I was an advertiser with Cumulus and when it was time to make a career change, I joined the Cumulus team. I know first hand the effect radio can have on a business, if used correctly.
