Two of NC’s fastest made their mark on the national stage — and they didn’t come to play 👟💨

💥 Michael Rice Jr dropped a NEW PR of 47.40 in the 400m, proving he’s one of the elite quarter-milers in the country! 🥶🔥

🏆 Fayetteville showed OUT at Adidas Nationals! 💥

Our local athletes lit up the track and field with elite performances and national titles at one of the biggest stages in the country! 🙌🔥

🥇 Bella Ross – Adidas National Champion in Long Jump & 3rd in the 100m (12.23)
🥇 Jalen Turner – Adidas National Champion in the 400m (48.81)
🥈 Jeremiah Faison – 2nd in the Championship 110m Hurdles (14.08)
🥉 Brandon Patton – 3rd in the 110m Hurdles (14.58)
🥉 JaNiyah Ford – 3rd in the 400m (56.20) & 10th in the 800m (2:19.12)
🏅 Jadon Sterling – 5th in Long Jump (21’2.6”)
🏅 NC Flight Boys 4x200m – 4th in Championship Relay (1:26.94)
🥉 71st Boys 4x200m – 3rd in National Elite Relay (1:29.34)
🥈 Israel Chavira (MS) – 2nd in 400m (51.12) & 🥉 3rd in 800m (2:04.99)

From school records to national qualifiers to season bests, our Cumberland County Schools athletes absolutely SHINED at the 3A & 4A NCHSAA State Meet! 🥇🥈🥉

🎉 History Made! 🎉

Huge congratulations to sophomore Asia McKay for an absolutely record-shattering performance in the Girls High Jump at the NCHSAA 3A State Championship!

Asia soared to an incredible 5-9.25, breaking the long-standing state record of 5-8.25 set by April Cooke of Watauga High School — a record that had stood since 1983!

👏 With this historic leap, Asia not only claimed the state title, but also etched her name into the record books.

🔥 Way to rise, Asia — the sky’s the limit!

Big Congratulations to Michael Rice Jr (Douglas Byrd)!

Michael blazed his way to victory in the 800M at the NCHSAA 3A Outdoor State Championship, clocking an incredible 1:52.98 to take home the gold! 🥇🔥

This marks Michael’s second state title of his senior year—he also dominated the 500M at the Indoor State Championship, winning with a time of 1:04.48.

And he wasn’t done yet—Michael ran a strong second leg on his school’s 4x400M Relay team, helping them secure an impressive 2nd-place finish at the same outdoor championship! 🥈
What a phenomenal way to cap off a standout senior season. Congrats, Michael! Your dedication, speed, and consistency have truly shined! 💪🏾🏃🏾‍♂️💥

Huge congratulations to Zoe Dorsey ._.dorsey (Terry Sanford High School) for taking home the NCHSAA 3A State Championship title in the 800M with a record-smashing time of 2:10.48! 🔥💨

Zoe didn’t just win—she made history by shattering the previous state record set by Megan Marvin (Chapel Hill) in 2018 (2:12.74). 💥📉

And if that’s not enough, Zoe has also clocked an incredible 2:08.71 in the 800M this season—the fastest time ever run by a Cumberland County athlete! 🐐⚡

A phenomenal performance from a phenomenal athlete. Congratulations, Zoe—your legacy is just getting started! 🌟👏

Fayetteville Academy’s 4x200M Relay Team dominated the track and claimed 1st place at the NCISAA III State Championships! 🥇💨

The powerhouse squad—Chuk Umerah, Jacob Salisbury .s , Aziz Al-Juhanni , and Jonas Haygood .haygood —not only brought home the gold, but also set a brand new school record in the process! 📈💥

🏆  State Champion Alert! 🏆

A huge congratulations to Georgy Helmers from E.E. Smith, the new 3A State Champion in the 3200M with an incredible time of 10:35.65! 🎉🔥

Not only did Georgy bring home the gold, but she also shattered the previous state record held by Erin Pope (Fike High School), who ran a 10:51.45 in 2024.

But she didn’t stop there—Georgy also earned 2nd place in the 1600M with a blazing fast time of 5:01.01! 🥈💨

Throughout the season, Georgy has made history, running the fastest times ever recorded in Cumberland County for both the 1600M and 3200M. 💪📈

This is more than a win—it’s a legacy. Way to go, Georgy! 🌟👏
