Fayetteville firefighters have begun the city’s annual fire hydrant inspection and maintenance program, with crews expected to work through neighborhoods through the end of the year. 🚒

Hydrants will be checked for proper operation and water flow, while crews also clean, lubricate, repaint and add reflective markers where needed. Residents may occasionally notice temporary water discoloration after nearby testing as changes in flow stir up sediment in the system. The work is part of Fayetteville’s routine maintenance of its water and fire-protection infrastructure.

Did you read today’s Flyer? Flint Riverkeeper and nearby residents have filed a formal 60-day notice of intent to sue over stormwater runoff from the QTS data center site in Fayetteville. The notice alleges that sediment-heavy water and other pollutants have repeatedly flowed from the property into nearby waterways since construction began in 2023. The concerns center on a stream connected to Sandy Creek near Highway 54 and Veterans Parkway. QTS declined to comment on potential litigation, and the notice gives the company and contractors 60 days to resolve the matter before a lawsuit may be filed under the Clean Water Act.
