AITA for telling my teenage son the real reason I left his father?

My ex and I split over a year ago. He had been cheating on me. He wanted to and still wants to work through it, but that’s not even a possibility. I have a son who will soon be 16. The divorce was hard on him, especially because he didn’t understand why it was happening. I just told him that his father and I couldn’t make it work anymore and that these things sometimes happen. It’s never been a good enough reason for him.

His father takes him every other weekend. He’s been filling my son’s head with ideas of us some day getting back together. Then I get to explain to my son that it’s not going to happen. Of course at that point I get to deal with his anger at the situation. The way he saw it was that I kicked his father out of the house, split up our marriage, and am now unwilling to even try to work through it with his poor victim of a father.

Ive talked to my ex about him bringing our son into our...

AITA for telling my wife off after getting our daughter to cut her hair off, even after being told not to?

My wife is currently battling cancer, and one of the things she’s told me she’s struggling with the most was losing her hair. She’s been given a near 100% chance of survival since we caught it early, but the chemotherapy has destroyed her hair anyway, and she had to shave what was left of it off a few weeks ago.

Not long after that, she suggested we attempt to get our 17 year old daughter, Anna, to do so as well. Anna has very long hair that she puts a lot of care into so I felt it was appropriate to ask her in private if she wanted to/would be willing to do such a thing. She told me that she didn’t want to cut her hair and I figured that was the end of that.

However yesterday they came home from a “girls shopping trip”, something they do every so often, and Anna had a buzzed haircut. That struck me as odd after what she’d said, so after dinner I talked to her and she told me that my wife had said she...

AITA for telling my sister I’m not her built-in babysitter?

Quick note before I start: I’m sorry for any misspelled words/ bad grammar! I’ve been up all night

I (15F) am the youngest of three siblings. My sister (24F) has three children (6 year old girl and two boys, 1 and 2.) They currently all live with us, and the kids are here every other week (a week with their dad and a week with my sister).

I have a lot of mental issues and sometimes it is all too much to deal with because I have to care for my disabled mother, disabled cousin, and the kids on the weeks they’re here, plus cleaning up after them and doing my schoolwork.

On the weeks they are at their dads my sister will complain all week about how she misses her kids, but on the weeks they’re here she barely spends any time with them.

She knows I have a big heart and uses that against me, saying stuff like “will they be ok here or will I have to spend money I don’t have?” Or “I’m sorry they’re such a burden...

AITA for refusing to give my daughters financial help even though I’m worth over $10 million?

I’m 74 and thanks to an stock inheritance I received from my father about 30 years ago I have amassed around a ten million dollar net worth with around eight million of that currently in the market. I have two daughters, both in their mid forties. Both married with one child each. I am very conservative financially and have only given them around ten thousand each when buying their first homes and have put away around eighty thousand each for my grandchildren for college. Of course I paid for their college expenses and after any scholarships allowed them to keep any savings after college. I do not pay for anything for them outside fifty dollars each every Christmas. Both daughters work full time and have adequate incomes but I recently found out that they are both living borderline paycheck to paycheck. My wife recently let it slip to one daughter that one day they would inherit more money than they would know what to do with. They have not brought anything up or asked for money. I want to make sure this money goes to making...

AITBA for letting my Child stave?

I, 35 female, have 8 children ranging from 3-12 years old. That is a lot of mouths to feed. I do not at all regret having 8 kids, but when it comes to the dinner table we have a set rules, just like everything else. The rule is we pick a category of food for each night as a family on the weekends, tonight's was pasta. I make 2-3 dishes. So tonight I made fettuccine Alfredo with chicken on the side, spaghetti with meatballs on the side, and lasagnas. Those where what we had, and if you don't like one of the options then you are always allowed to make you a sandwich or find something else in the house but you have to make it. Tonight my eldest daughter didn't want pasta, I said okay that's fine you can either have leftover pizza from last night or make a sandwich. She replied with "I brought a sandwich to school today, and had pizza last night. I don't want either of those things. But I am not feeling pasta." I basically told her that were her...

AITA for refusing to remove certain foods from my house because my husband's friend is allergic?

My husband and I recently moved into the same city as his childhood best friend "Steve". Steve is allergic to all nuts, legumes and soy. Because of this, my husband wants our house to have a rule that we're not to have nuts in the house in case he comes over.

I think this is a dumb rule and refuse to comply. I did agree to keep my nut-based products in a separate container, but my husband thinks that this isn't enough. I'm allergic to wheat, and we still have it in the house.

I also think it's unnecessary. I don't know the extent of Steve's allergies, but I do not it's not immediately life threatening, he doesn't carry an EpiPen, and he also works in food service and frequently handles nuts. Being in the same room isn't going to hurt him. As long as we don't serve him food with nuts and watch for cross-contamination, we should be fine.

The foods that Steve is allergic to are a big part of my diet. Also, this is where I live, not Steve, so...
